If you're worried about $100 on a sale of a gun that would be otherwise impossible for you to get except thru the special services of one of a very few FFLs in CA that are very aggressive, then you're just a cheaparse - rich or poor.

Real pro-gun people realize the value of aggressive FFLs standing up to CA DOJ and pushing things legislators didn't want/didn't envision. Only thru driving things like that can we win (directly or thru court cases).

Well according to you, you invented the SSE and were the first person to use it. So I will yield to your expert ways

Complaining about thr money is weak. Did you also complain abiut asking prices on ar 15s 6 months ago? Very limited ffls do sse and they are being targeted. Pay the bill or leave. Over the life of a gun that you may be using as a daily carry or bet your life on is peanuts.

I have an SSE question. If I purchase an off-roster gun and have it shipped to an FFL that does SSE, do the mags have to be ten rounds or less? Or can the FFL disassemble them to be rebuild kits and I just buy some ten-round mags?

Have the seller disassemble and send the mag parts directly to you. Then buy a couple of 10 rounders from the FFL doing the SSE.
