    SSE fees are really high

Totally crazy about some of these fees that guns shops are charging for single shot exempt. Contacted Spencer Firearms in Madera after seeing them on calguns.net. To get a M and P 9mm that SKU number is not right for California the fees are crazy.

$150.00 plus sales taxs for the gun coming itself
$100.00 for the single shot exempt fee
    $25.00 for DROS

Now come on I know guns shops gotta make a profit but $250.00 on a M and P 9mm that with the correct SKU number would sell maybe in the $550.00 range in California. That is crazy, would tell me that this gun shop is about making big profits and not caring about anything else.

I see gun shops down in Los Angeles are doing this stuff for $65 to $75 dollars no problem.

I am very disappointed in a gun shop that is supposed to be pro gun and 2nd amendment taking such advantage of people. Anybody in the valley know a gun shop that would do single shot exempt fee at a reasonable price.

They don't want to do transfers, thus the crazy fees...find another shop that does.

Try PRK in Fresno or TRAP in Tracy.

If you do go to Spencer's don't enter his lot after dark while driving a Toyota FJ...

They could be gouging, or they could be trying to offset their investment in the SSE barrel for that model. They make an upfront investment in the tools necessary and expect to recoup that over time based on # of SSE's performed. Unfortunately some stores get nervous and set the SSE cost really high which ends up getting them less business for it and feeding their desire to raise prices to recoup their investment. It's an unfortunate vicious cycle but as other's have pointed out there are options available in North/South California that price more appropriately.

They have a $150 transfer fee for ON ROSTER transfers...it is not gouging or SSE capital cost recovery.

The just don't want to do out of state transfers. Simple.

That makes sense. Thanks for pointing that out.

$150 transfer fee before taxes, dros, SSE = they don't want your business. They do it because they want you to buy guns from their inventory and don't want to be bothered with transfers. If you still really want to do a transfer there for whatever reason, you have no choice but to pay up.

So----- they want to sell you a gun, from there inventory instead of bringing in form out of STATE for SSE ?

Is that what I'm seeing here ?

And this would reduce fee's by $150.00 ?
