Do Not Go To Duncans Gun Range in Rainbow

Quick story about my horrible first time visit to this place. I realize there aren't a lot of outdoor ranges in the San Diego, Riverside area, but this place has got to be the bottom of the barrel. So here's how it went for me today.

Called Thursday to see if they were accepting new memberships. Guy on the phone said yes. I then made sure that I could come Friday to sign up and shoot the same day. He said yes no problem. Get there Friday, 30 min drive for me btw. I have never been to this place and first impression is it's a complete DUMP. I decide to go into the shanty of an office to see about getting a membership. I open the door and I have barely placed a foot across the threshold when this rude as hell ******* that is maning the desk says, "well don't just stand there with the door open, close it". REALLY? I was making my way in, it was crowded because the damn place is smaller than a closet, and I hadn't even fully got in to be able to close the door. Unbelievable. So now I'm thinking, probably not going to give this **** hole my money. The other customers in the office go out to the range and the dude says, "so what can I do for you" in a really crappy tone. I say, I'm thinking about getting a membership. He quickly runs through what's needed in a way that made me feel as though this was the last thing in the world he wanted to be doing, and then says "BUT, you have to come on Saturdays to open a membership". I then explain that when I called yesterday, the guy told me I could come today, get the membership and shoot. His response, "Well he was wrong". I turned and left without a word. Believe me when I tell you, it was all I could do not to come across the desk and take this guy out. It was that bad and it is clear that this idiot needs to be fired.

Apperently it is somewhat known that these guys really are lame asses and just don't care about thier customers. Hopefully with this post, it becomes more known and people stop going there.

Something to note. The place is called Duncan's. Please do not confuse this with Duncan's Gun Store in San Marcos. They are not the same business. Tom Duncan who owns the range is the brother of the Duncan that owns the Gun Store. The Gun Store is filled with very professional, courteous people and I will continue to do business with them.

As for Duncan's the gun range, there's not a chance in hell they are getting my money nor should they get yours. How this place has even ONE customer is beyond me.

    STAY AWAY!!

    Seriously, 4 posts?

Also, how does one say "So what can I do for you?" in a crappy tone? Seriously, I can't imagine how anyone can say that phrase in a crappy tone.

Rainbow is a great range. A lot of nice people who enjoy shooting in a safe environment.
The guys who sign you up have a pretty dry sense of humor. Once you get to know them they are actually very nice and knowledgeable.
If it were a half hour from my house, which it is, would suck it up give them the $150 bucks and enjoy shooting at an outdoor range for 365 days a year with no extra fees.

It's quite easy actually. Obviously expressing the tone that someone took over the internet is not.

Maybe, but I'm not sure how someone would pick that up by simply putting my hand on a door to open it and walk in as I'm being yelled at. Aside from that, I can asure you, I am not a newbie.

                      ^ This!

The previous Range Officer was 100x better than this new guy. I believe this new RO is an ex-cop or something.

With that said, I did not renew my membership after being one for 5 straight years. I simply cannot handle his demeanor.

                        Don't blame you.

Apperently Tom Duncan has been told on numerous occassions that this guy is out of control, yet doesn't seem to do a thing about it. Maybe he's got something on Tom......

Its not always the fat dude; there just always is a fat dude. Check the flow chart.

Sorry to hear about the bad experiences. My wife and I signed up on Thursday with Serge (RO). I believe Serge works Monday - Thursday. Serge is a hell of a nice guy and was very professional/personable to both us. I must have come in contact with 20 members there, all which were extremely friendly and welcoming. Very cool people! I even had one Kat who was far more knowledgeable than me on optics, take me under his wing and explain some basics (which will ultimately save me big dollars). I've been shooting for 30 years...no ego here. I would, however; like to see them do some repair on some of the structures (minor carpentry/paint). I'm now interested in meeting the other RO a couple of you have complained about. However, I'm a pretty big/nasty looking guy that people don't give attitude to. But, then again, I don't give attitude.

So, I guess you have to have a lot of posts to know you're being treated like crap?
