Wow! thanks for the heads-up. I am going to get my Garand and 1903 from the CMP. They let you pick out your weapons, but it is not given to you there. I should be ok.

I looked around the rest of that site. I detected a bit of a wacko element.

I've been to Big Reno Show several times, before Fed AWB sunset, and politely & quietly told several vendors that some of their AWs were illegally configured (aside from a couple of obvious NFA SBR violations!).

Essentially got a "they ain't bustin' for that" response from some farm-boy types.

I don't like these stupid laws, but if you're a gun seller and screw up in Reno, NV (as opposed to far more difficult terrain of CA) then you're really doing something idiotic. It's simple - don't break the law with 10,000 eyes on you along w/2-3 gov't agencies!

Below is an e-mail I sent last night to the organizers of the Reno Big Show. The thread includes a response for Mr. Fascio himself and then my response to him.

Read from bottom up. And judge for yourselves.

Thank you Mr. Fascio for responding.

However you did not respond to even one of my questions. Nor did you even address any of the issues. This avoidance of my direct questions causes me even more concerns about the accusations and your involvement.

This may be the last show I attend.

                  Regards,
                  XXXXX

We at the Big Reno Show thank you for your continued support of our shows. Our show office receives hundreds of copliments every year. As for the website you forwarded, I may recognize the name, it appears to be a site that surfaced a year ago, I forwarded the link to the office of my Corporate Attorney's and have not thought about it since.I am far to busy running one of the finest gun shows in the nation.

                  Please read this:

I have attended your show 3 times per year for the last 5 years.

I have noticed a change in the air the last few times out. People looking over my shoulder trying to listen in on my conversations. People encroaching on my personal space. Vendors being short and sometimes rude. Things like that and more. My 2 buddy's who attend with me have noticed it also. Then I find this link and I am now beginning to wonder if this may be true.

Please convince me I should continue to patronize what has always been my favorite show. Please tell me truthfully if this is true or false.

                  Thank you,
                  XXXXXXX XXXXXX

Have you ever considered that these "vendors" where actually federal agents? Or, perhaps legitimate vendors cooperating with the authorites for some reason or another.

Sounds like it has somthing to do with the 14 guys who got busted at that show and the one in LV last year.

I was at the one in Reno and it was a little weird, something was amiss like 3 guys who looked like gangsters with an AR15 for sale. I also noticed the guy who sells the ar15 lowers from oregon wasnt there and found out later he was busted at the LV show. The guy with the G3 seemed legit but he was a little off from the normal PPT guys selling rifles at the show. Pre-ban or not that thing and the guy selling it didnt pass the sniff test (no offense if he was legit)

I'm with Brad. If you don't do anything wrong, they can't do anything to you. Know your law.
I'll be there on Friday the 18th, and report back as to any strange stuff going on.

Doubt they're Feds. Too poorly spoken, etc. I could tell one guy didn't know from Adam about NFA, SBRs vs 16" bbls, etc.

I think the guys I encountered were just stooopid. There was no aggressive pressure to try to sell one to me, which is prob not what a case-making BATF manager would direct his agents to do...

Lotsa folks -sellers, customers, etc. - took the 94 AWB with a grain of salt, not realizing that penalties could be right up there with MGs.

I suspect the ATF was primarily looking for 3 categories of things at Big Reno Show...

non-boderline illegally configured postban AWs (null and void now since sunset)

transactions w/prohibited folks (felons, underage)

NFA-related violations

dealers bypassing paperwork/bkgrd check

Again, if some deal smells too good to be true, it ain't. If it smells borderline, walk away.
This applies to customer AND vendor.

Survival Enterprises was located in Stockton or Lodi for many years as I recall and was a regular at Nor-Cal gun shows. I used to stop by and talk with them on a regular basis at gun shows and I have purchased several guns from them, and used to follow the owners' threads on several gun related forums during the late 1990s.

From my experience these guys are STRAIGHT SHOOTERS!
