    Ammo rant

I know we are all feeling the crunch. As a shooter, I just want ammo to fn shoot!
I dont care about stockpiling and I dont want to pay $0.50 a round for .223!
I cant even take my son out to shoot 'cause .22 is scarce.
The only thing that IS AVAILABLE (besides some ridiculously priced brass) are steel cased, bimetal junk. I buy tulammo 'cause its there, but my ar likes to keep the empties in her chamber....

That means buy when the stuff is plentiful and store it for later and current use. When you use up a certain amount then buy more so you do not have to worry or complain.
Do you buy only one roll of TP at a time also?? One paperclip at a time? Etc

The world is what it is. Stop ranting about things you have(had) complete control over and did nothing about.

I am sorry about my post IF you did have a supply and due to the extreme time the shortages have been used it up. Lesson-Have more on hand next time. Please note there WILL be a next time again. You have been warned.

Wtf is wrong in the world. I cant even take my son out to shoot 'cause .22 is scarce.

What a shotty world we live in.....
Really? Because there was brass .223 for 38 cents a round(PMC) this morning. Of course it was also a 1,000 round case, so maybe that's "stockpiling" to you. For some that might last a year, for others that's enough for a couple range trips.

Also, .22lr is not scarce. Cheap bulk .22lr for plinking is scarce, but even that comes up every now and then if you bother to look.

If you don't want to "stockpile" you can't really complain that you have no ammo and expect anyone to feel sorry for you. If you want to make sure you always have ammo to shoot I would suggest changing your buying habits from getting a few boxes before each range trip, to buying when it's available at a reasonable price.

If you're in SoCal, there's another gunshow coming up at the Costa Mesa fairgrounds on the 17th.

How about a couple 20 gauge shotguns. Walmart always has 20 gauge shells cheap, they always have clay birds. Its hard to beat sitting around camp throwing clay birds ...

As far as 22lr rifle goes, that's all on you. There's no reason NOT to have a stock pile of that.
It takes a lot of balls to play golf the way I do.

Check the Calguns Deals forum. Guys post ammo deals they come across. You could find .22lr and .223 for decent prices. Not pre-Dec 2012, but you can find some.

I'd suggest as the others said. When it becomes available to stockpile some ammo. I shoot every two weeks and haven't skipped a beat. My kids are just getting into shooting, so I'll pickup bulk .22 when I can find it for decent prices. I don't need it right away, but it's constantly replenishing the stock I shoot.

You just have to be diligent in your search and be ready to pounce.

In 2013 I have managed to snatch 6350 rounds of 22LR for an average price of 0.0816 per round shipped. Would I like it cheaper? Of course ! Can it be found cheaper? ...not right now.
