    Turners or Bain & Davis?

I am trying to get myself a shotgun (590) and this would be my first. there is a turners not far from where i live, but after done some research online, i found plenty of bad reviews (and some good ones) about turner's customers service and the way they treat different customers, for those of you who have done business with turners, what do you think about their business? espically the Pasadena shop and the west covina shop.

How do you rate bain and davis sporting goods (the one on valley blvd) despite they have a small selection?

    thankyou

They are awesome guys at Bain & Davis, I have dealt with them many times and have been very happy. The have a decent gunsmith on site as well, and they are the cheapest FFL for using Davidson's. I use them for everything but transfers and OLL stuff.

Bain & David of course! You could even talk them into free gunsmithing if you order extra's for the shotgun, they will also take it back and find out what's wrong with it if anything is to break.

Never had a problem at Turners.. bought 8 guns there over the past 8 years. I dont understand how people turn buying a gun into something complex.. Buying a gun is just like buying any other product except you have to fill out some paperwork and come back in 10 days to get it. I'd go with whoever has the lowest price.

They double charged me for a rifle and when I notified them of the mistake, the manager was only converned that his sales for the month would now be "beaucoup low."

And when I picked up the rifle, they dropped my bolt. They at first offered me another bolt which wasn't even correct.. but eventually gave me the right one when I told them on the spot.

This was all at the Asuza Turners.

I've had pretty positive experiences at Pasadena except for one incident which was remedied by the manager.

Before I was 21 (but well over 18) they would net sell me rifle ammo, even with a military ID! I could swear the woman at the register had never done an ammo transaction before which is just bizarre. They were rude about it too.

2nd problem I went in to BUY a 92FS, they would not let me disassemble it to check a few things. I ended up buying it from another store that did the saem day. VERY RUDE.

Maybe give Big5 a try when the 590 goes on sale. Might get a better price than anywhere else and you can also pick up a Mosin at the same time.

See my thread below about my most recent experience with Pasadena Turners, and someone else's issue with them

I have bought about 4 guns from them before with no problems, but their service is hit or miss depending who you talk to over there.

I've only been to Bain & Davis once, just looking around at their selection. Even though I told them I wasn't really looking to buy anything at that time, the two guys working there were very friendly and helpful. So I will be going there more frequently in the future.

well i went to BIG 5 in Alhambra multiple times, but they don't have the type (590a1 w/ ghost ring ) i want, so i decide to visit a formal gun shop.

When I was living and going to school in SoCal I went to both Turners and Bain and Davis.

My experience at Turners was mixed. Sometimes good. Sometimes 'blah', average. Sometimes bad. It really all depends who you get.

My experience at Bain and Davis was very good. I consigned a gun with them. Also, they seemed easy to talk to/deal with. And, Glock 30, quoted below, has a good point. It's nice to buy from a place that can offer you a little support if something goes wrong. Based on my experience at Bain I would guess that they seem like the type of guys that would work with you if there was a problem.

Another shop to consider is Ade's down in Orange County. I was never there (didn't know about it). But, Ade seems to have a great reputation here among Calgunners. It might be worth a drive.

Also, are you planning to buy the 590 retail or over the internet and then transfer? It might be worth your while financially to look into the latter option. You could find out from people here which FFLs around you have decent rates for internet transfers.

                            Have fun.

I've met Turner's guys who were VERY intelligent, and educated about the law. Occasionally they would make mistakes but they would actually look them up. Two such worked at the Reseda turners. Unfortunately, they were deployed to the gravel pit last october =(

I've also met complete nincompoops, imbeciles, and outright wierd peopel who worked there.
