Don't let a family heirloom go. Can a rifle be re-heat treated? Worst case: keep the old rifle as a heirloom and make them supply you with a new one that is a shooter so that you still have one to use. Maybe find a more reputable smith and see if they can repair your rifle.

You can find another 510 and buy it. I wouldn't of had them weld a family heirloom in the first place.
I sold one a while back. There out there.

While I understand sentimental value you could end up with a unsafe gun you can't shoot. I would give it to the let them give you a new gun and hey can keep the other gun. Go back later and buy it back if it means that much to you

Thx for all the opinions . 510s are sweet shooters but I wouldn't trust mine to shoot at all
