Surefire 6PX Pro for off-weapon and use a Z59 Tailcap (on-off click, full power) on the light for use on rifle.

      Surefire for the win.

      I have a 20yr old 6p that I sent in for new o-rings.
they asked if I was the original owner.
      Said yes.

And the only original part left was the body and lamp.

head and tail cap were upgraded because of the
obsolete parts are none to be found.

      Followed by Elzetta
because I replaced the incandescent with their drop
      in LED module

$1 LED flashlight from Harbor Freight. It comes in a pack of 2 for $2 if you have the coupon, so 1 for your weapon, 1 for daily use.

I have it installed on my Mossberg 500 using an Elzetta light mount, and after 50 shots of 00buck, the light still works. Best of all, it uses 3 AAA batteries. You can pick up a pack of 20 AAA or AA batteries for $2-3 at Harbor Freight too!

A Streamlight TLR1 or TLR1s would not be ideal for pocket carry, but a great light at a great price on a pistol or rifle.

Fenix TK11, or 12, or 15. All are 1" bodies, adjustable light output, and will mount with any 1" mount.

Took mine to Iraq with no issues and plenty of abuse.

An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself...A murderer is less to fear. The traitor is the plague."......Cicero

Become a big fan of Fenix lights http://www.fenixlight.com/ great deals on eBay and quality is high and their lights have some nice functions. Plus, very affordable and durable.

This is one of my favorites http://www.fenixlight.com/ProductMor...1#.Ufv92j4yzRk - they make other smaller setups better for weapons.

I think Surefire is far to overpriced for what it is and nowadays, I think you are mostly paying for name. There are many great lights out there.

I have a couple of older models of these for my pit at the races, in my vehicle glove boxes, and they fit my 1-inch dia. weapon light mounts.
