-Ranges that don't allow "rapid fire"
-Ranges that wont allow 25 meter zeroing of my AR
-Ranges that speed through safety for "first timers" and then yell at them for breaking the rules
-People who swear by brand X and will never try new things
-People that ask to use my spotting scope at the range
-Gun shops that have a crazy mark up (Brentwood, CA)
-Gun shops that sell AR lowers but nothing else AR related (Oakley, CA)
-Gun shops that get mad when you ask them info on a gun (Antioch, CA)I hope this sh*t works!!!Comment

#1 No steel anything at most ranges. Many don't allow anything that'll attract a magnet. That's fun when you're bringing something like an AK-74 and there literally is no ammuntion that exists in 5.45x39mm (at least that I've found) that doesn't at least have a steel casing. I get some places want you to buy their ammo and some want to recycle the brass and don't want to sort it out, but when I can get 1,000 rounds online for $220-250 and the store's ammo is $28.50 for 20 rounds (got quoted that on 7.62x39mm recently at a range...) and literally 600% the price of the other stuff, it's the difference between paying a lane and/or membership fee, and not going there all.
#2 Muzzle sweeping. Usually happens with someone trying to impress and/or "train" (term used very loosely here) people they're with. By all means go ahead and show your friend a proper grip. Do not point the weapon down the line of shooters across the entire range when doing so.
#3 Gun shops that treat the store like their kingdom. Yes I'd like to come in and buy a couple magazines. No I don't want to buy magazines from a place that makes me feel like I'm bothering them or interrupting their internet browsing, or worse, trespassing. Have had that at a couple places.
#4 Everything everywhere being always out of stock of anything I'd possibly go in there to get, and having no idea when they'll get more, despite claiming to carry the item on a regular basis. I realize this isn't always a stores fault however, but man does it seem rather standard to have stuff on back-order for months in this industry, moreso than any other I regularly interact with.
#5 Dude who shows up at the range with kitted out AR-15, half a dozen things mounted on rails, and is incredibly uncomfortable with the weapon.Solid Gone...Comment

My 2 BIGGEST peeves.
1) people that dry fire my weapons and don't at least ASK FIRST. Some people don't care, I do, I have snap caps for that.
2)PEOPLE WITH BAD RANGE ETIQUETTE.A lawyer with his briefcase can steal more than a hundred men with guns.-Mario PuzoComment

This isn't really gun related, but it is gun-owner related:
It always bothers me when pro-2A folks post arguments on a comments section of a news article or other online discussion/forum, and they have TERRIBLE spelling, grammar, punctuation, etc. A typo or two is OK, but blatant errors should not be tolerated. It makes us look dumb.WARNING: THE ABOVE POST MAY CONTAIN EXCESSIVE USE OF SARCASM.

1) Range officers that stare at me like I'm about to shoot someone knowing that I'm carefully handling my guns, ammos are non steel, seen me a few more times when theres a beginner pointing a gun at us, finger on the trigger and shouting that her gun malfunctioned. Yikes!! He probably hates my guts for always bringing an off roster handgun or he may probably just want to ask if he can shoot it.
2) People shooting loud *** 308's while I'm packing my stuff and brass flying on my face. I make sure I'm aware of my surroundings so I stop shooting when someone is right beside me packing up his stuff or waiting for me to be done shooting. The guy even had a big smirk on his face like he's the only awesome person there with an AR10.
3) People who have magnifiers with red dot sights then their bullets are flying all over the place because they're newbs who havent even sighted their irons yet just bec. It makes their rifle tacticool! Yes, there were two of them. A blind leading the blind. Then you hear them say, "the recoil isn't bad" when their AR looks all pimped out like they've shot it before. At least I told the range officer I'm a newb the first time I shot mine instead of me just winging it.
4) Teenagers sharing one rifle but occupying 4 seats while they pass along their rifle to each other. Thats the reason why there are chairs in the back so u can take turns without taking up space!Last edited by carval23; 09-19-2013, 10:48 PM.Comment

I've always looked at it like this. You want to buy a cell phone. Cell company runs a credit check. Cell store gives you a phone when credit check comes back good. The credit bureau has no clue you purchased a phone only that you've been checked to purchase a phone. When you come back to the cell store to get another phone they don't know if you've gone bankrupt so they run another credit check. rinse and repeat
now with firearms there is a 10 day waiting period with the same scenario because murder by phone rate is slightly lower than murder by firearm.
In any case, your point is moot: a firearm owner could bring an owned gun with him/her to void the 10-day waiting period. Even if it doesn't belong to him/her, if that person already has access to a firearm, then no need to make him/her wait to get another one.

I've thought that exact same thing. That needs to become law ASAP. If someone is already in possesion of a gun there is absolutely no reason for any waiting period at all.WARNING: THE ABOVE POST MAY CONTAIN EXCESSIVE USE OF SARCASM.

First off, I would bet that the 10 day waiting period has killed as least as many people as it's saved. It may prevent a hothead from buying a gun in the heat of the moment to kill someone (emphasis on "may"), but it will definitely prevent a person from buying a gun to protect herself from someone threatening to kill her. There are so many ways for a person to commit suicide or murder; the only thing a 10-day waiting period does is motivate them to use another method. (But , hey, it makes the antis feel better when a woman is beaten to death with a baseball bat instead of being shot!) However, the best defensive tool for a potential victim is a firearm, and the 10-day waiting period deprives potential victims of the best means to protect themselves.

Interesting. I rarely see this being brought up. but I believe that it IS a peeve as well. This is a PEEVE of what the state GOVT does that pisses me off. Why do we have to wait to get another gun when we already own several? Why must my friend and I wait for a PPT when we BOTH show up and we BOTH have guns and we are trading them on paper? WHY? And yet all of these antis argue that they are for common sense gun laws.... THAT is ONE common sense gun law, all of this other crap that they have is not so common sense. But since it is NOT a law, then it does not happen. Why have these asshats not pushed for such a law to be made? Because the ONLY laws they want are unconstitutional laws that prevent us from buying guns or make it that much harder to own one. THAT is my peeve as well. It is just plain STUPID. And no matter how much crap we talk about them and their stupidity they just keep on chugging along with their own self serving interests...
How hard is it to start a bill that would make this a law? Would be interesting to see how far it would get and how many REAL common sense folks there were in the capitol.
My second PEEVE is the difference between a mag and a clip. or just plain gun ignorance when "news journalists" report on stuff like the STOCK SKS assault rifle at the gun buy back and the jackass on channel 4 showing the neighbors on his tablet all of the guns that were taken from a house next door and the verdict was still out on whether or not some were illegal, but it made no difference, Channel 4 was there to crucify that guy through his neighbor's opinions. I think it was none of their ****ing business what guns he had- ESPECIALLY if they all came back legal to own.Last edited by stilly; 09-20-2013, 12:36 PM.7 Billion people on the planet.
