You've just gotta apply, act professionally, and pass your handgun qualification course.

Just apply, you might be pleasantly surprised.
Santa Clara county hasn't even accepted completed apps since the lawsuit by scocca. And even when they were accepting apps, your chance of being approved was slim and none.

With scocca on the back burner (or out completely, not sure), and other cases pending, AFAIK nothing has changed.

So, maybe your county has made it easier, but its almost impossible to get one here.
    Sorry, not sorry.

Dear autocorrect, I'm really getting tired of your shirt!

Or you could be stuck with Alameda demanding evidence of:
      1. There is a documented, presently existing, clear and present danger to life, or great bodily harm
to the applicant and/or his or her spouse, domestic partner, or dependents.
      2. The danger of harm is specific to the applicant, or his or her immediate family, and is not
generally shared by other similarly situated members of the public.
      3. Existing law enforcement resources cannot adequately address the danger of harm.
      4. The danger of harm cannot reasonably be avoided by alternative measures.
      5. Licensing the applicant to carry a concealed weapon is significantly likely to reduce the danger
      of harm.

So you aren't getting a permit unless your good cause is along the lines of finding a severed horse head in the bed.

YOLO should be an acceptable good cause statement on its own

I have a few friends from Yolo county that acquired their permits. It's a lot more difficult because they want "Good Cause" and require letters from character references. Usually LEO's, prosecutors, building managers, etc.

Sac, Placer, and El Dorado counties are much easier. My transfer from Sac to Placer was a breeze and I didn't need to jump through the hoops like I originally did with Sac years ago

And if you were able to get one up here in the Bay Area then you would also need to expect that one of the newspapers or TV stations will do an anti-gun piece and print the names of the CCW holders as they have done before. They are puiblic record.

In heavily populated areas such as the Bay Area, a CCW is another California Unicorn. I had worries that my local PD would endorse my C & R license even though I have a spotless record. It's all politics and nothing more.
I'd agree with you but then we'd both be wrong...
