    Another BS conspiracy theory.

    And who would be doing that exactly? The cops in Reno, who have no motivation to arrest you (or cooperate with the scheme), or the cops in CA who weren't in Reno to see you do it?

    Also, where is this "checkpoint" between California and Nevada?

        it's all good, done it myself several times. BTW, you'll be lucky to find ammo at wallyworld out there, as bone dry as some of ours here.

          Follow this link for the checkpoint:

          Link to group at UCD researching people from California going to gun shows in NV and AZ to buy guns http://www.ucdmc.ucdavis.edu/welcome...udy/index.html

          If you have ties to UCD to get invites to talks by researchers about their ongoing research, you would might have received the invitation to hear one of Dr. Wintemute's graduate students talk about the next phase of using technology to photograph California plates, enter it into a data base to be used at the agricultural check point on i-80 to identify cars that had been at gun shows in the Reno area. That station was selected because the CHP has presence at the weigh station and checking permits for trucks entering CA from NV. Volunteers taking pictures or the grant provided by their private grant funding source paying the OT for CHP officers to go with them to the gun shows to take the pictures would provide the probable cause to stop and search the vehicles. The second phase though would see if people would self-report because the problem could just be lack of education, these people just do not know CA law.

          So do not cover ammo because it is legal and provide a nosey cop reasonable cause to do a search for their safety and yours or cover it with something that is not scary and provides not reasonable cause for a safety search and a quick friendly chat and you are on your way. Your choice. I prefer to spend my money on guns and ammo rather than attorney's fees. I did pay for my consultation with an attorney on how to avoid problems when transporting my guns and ammo.
          Anyone can look around and see the damage to the state and country inflicted by bad politicians.

          A vote is clearly much more dangerous than a gun.

          Why advocate restrictions on one right (voting) without comparable restrictions on another (self defense) (or, why not say 'Be a U.S. citizen' as the requirement for CCW)?

              I would not try to hide my ammo in any way. That just makes it look like you have something to hide. If they ask you if you have any fruits or vegetables to declare, just say "No, but I got a good deal on a whole bunch of ammo and if that bill to limit sales in California passes you are going to be seeing a lot more of me!"

                I can hear it now;
                "Hello. Welcome to California. Do you have any fruits, vegatables or large amounts of pistol ammunition with you today?"

                        I'm calling BS right there unless you can point to evidence(as in, a court case) that merely having been at a gun show(where many many many other things are sold besides guns) which is a legal gathering where things are bought and sold legally, is somehow probable cause for a search.

                              I'm there 3-4 times a year for a week or 3...usually have a few cases in the car for friends in California.

                              Fortunate I have Idaho plates.

                                Would a warning from Calguns approved Davis and Associates gun friendly attorneys about this providing enough for CA LE to even get a search warrant to search your house when you return from your visit to a gun store or gun show in a free state change your mind? Here is the link: http://www.calgunlawyers.com/gun-own...1-border-buys/

                                How did the UCD researchers find out about gunshow "loophole"? A few of them spent a lot of time on Calguns. How did I learn about Calguns, I attended a seminar last fall about this research. I do not agree with it. During the Q&A I asked what would happen when word got out and people simply quit driving their CA registered vehicles to the out of state gun shows and gun shops? They could use taxi's, local rental cars, buses, or even walk. The answer was that gun nuts were not that intelligent. After being here for awhile, I am beginning to believe that their are enough thinking that it is legal so I will keep it uncovered and flaunt it attitude to run cover for me so my precautions of never visiting gun stores or gun shows in OR, NV, or AZ with my CA plated vehicle or driving through agricultural check stations keeps me off the radar. I have a much lower chance of needing the services of an attorney.

                                For the record, I am also the person that always does 80, even in a 55 zone but always makes sure there are a few other cars going faster than I am. I have never received a ticket in 38 years of driving. It is because I literally stay off the radar.
