I fondle at the shows, then buy at the shop. With all the different vendors in one building I get to try EVERYTHING. I only buy ammo and jerky though

If you want to have a great experience at a gun show, take your favorite rifle, CLEAR IT, CHAMBER FLAG IT, then strap it to your back and walk about. Even if you don't sell or trade, it will instantly improve your conversations.

incidentally, i'm going to be there this coming saturday with matt at the entreprise booth. come by and and say hello to us. i'm working on a secret calguns handshake.k

Gun shows have become ridiculous in recent years.... dealers used to mark their prices down and go to the shows to get rid of stagnant inventory or do some volume with the popular stuff. Now it seems like they mark their prices up at the shows....

The stupid thing is that if I were to find a deal I would plink down my CCW and walk out with the deal gun.... I'm sure there are a lot of people with that mindset. Instead, the prices are a deterrent.... I walk right on by tables when I see the inflated price tags. There was a guy at the last show that had a shotgun I wanted, but there was no price marked on it. At the same table he was selling new Glocks for $600.... didn't even stop.

There were some ammo deals there, but the guy that was selling it was a prick so I didn't buy anything from him either. However, there was a guy two shows ago that came in and set up several tables full of new guns.... was selling them for really decent prices. NIB G22's were $489.... he didn't have anything I wanted, but he was friendly and I perused his goods for a half hour trying to find something I couldn't live without.

I almost always walk away from those shows feeling like a chump for wasting another $5 and two hours.....

Despite al the negative answers given there can be some good deals found. You have to know what it is you want and what the going prices are for that item. At the recent Ontario show I picked up a LNIB Colt Series 80 Combat Commander for a good price.

If you really want to have a blast, strap an M44 Mosin to your back and carry a little can of surplus ammo. Say, 120 rounds.

When people talk to you, tell them that you are being forced to sell the gun. Then tell them that for a few dollars more you'll sell it to them without going through an FFL. Watch their eyes get real big and round...

What did you consider a good price? And I also have to figure in parking fees and admission fees and gas in to my deal sometimes which for Ontario would usually cost me about $25-30 extra if not more. My one deal I got at Ontario was a decent condition, a little surface rust CZ83 .380acp for $225.

Unfortunately I had to pick it up in Riverside but this was before $4 gas. I live about 20-25 miles from Ontario at least.
