    gun shows

Do any of you gun show regulars find many deals on newer guns at the show?
Id like to get a stainless 22lr bolt action like a marlin 915ys or similar. IS it worth bothering with a gun show? A friend told me there was a big show in costa mesa. Ive only been to one gun show many years ago and there were not to many deals, but lots of junk for sale.

In my experience, gun shows have awful prices on guns.

It depends on the show, where you go, what you are looking for ect. Jun 7-8 there will be gun shows at ventura seaside fair grounds and costa mesa. i posted something on it so use the search button. Seaside is a decent gun show but i never been to the costa mesa one.

In CA, most gun shows are all about the beef jerky, airsoft, jewelry and memerobilla items.

Don't forget tacti-cool stuff like rail systems and weaponlights.

I like the Ventura show and it's much closer than Costa Mesa. There are more vendors at Costa Mesa.

I haven't found any deals on new guns at any of the shows, but there is always the story of the guy who haggled with the shop and stopped by just one more time at the end of the show on Sunday and saved a ton of cash. Where's mythbusters when you need them.
I move slow but I make up for it by shooting poorly.

On NEW guns the prices are high. The best prices are places like DD's Ranch, ect. Search the .net then use a friendly "kitchen" table FFL who only charges the minimum. Some times a brick and mortar shop will have a good price, Big 5, ect. Gun shows are by far the worst for new guns.

I've found that gun shows are mostly for ammo, beef jerky, knives, jewlery, gun magazines (the type that hold ammo) and gun accessories.

The prices on guns themselves don't match to what you could get online.

Gun shows are great for buying reloading stuff, like brass, powder, bullets, primers etc. Usually if I am looking for something specific I do not find it, but find 10 other things-oh I'll need that for so and so etc.

You never know though. Last year, I attended the Costa Mesa Show and found a vendor with used all stainless Beretta 92's. They were originally issued to the Department of Agriculture as their sidearm. Needless to say, they were in great condition. I believe the vendor was charging $350 each. I forgot to follow-up and missed out on that awesome opportunity.

Just don't go to the shows expecting "pie in the sky" stuff. But there are sometimes jewels in the rough that pop up.

                        Occasional rare deal

Use to be more people sold privately at shows. Now maybe a couple of dozen total for the weekend do.

As mentioned for ammo it is good (if miwall shows up).

Mostly it is good to go to look, feel, smell the products that you just don't get over the internet. Then after deciding you go home and purchase at much lower price off the internet.

                        GOOD LUCK!
