knock it out and go back to shooting it's just a load to light to push the bullet out and it gets stuck.I bet the primer was the only reason it shot might have been a blank case.
.
I am reloading for my 40sw and I like to dump the mag some times to so far no squibs.this also happens in shotguns when people reload the wad get's stuck most places will have a rod to knock it out.Originally Posted by olhunter View Post

Nice racks are much better. You can grab both sides of the rack to help stabilize while mounting.ProShooter's

I have shot only about 150 of the OnTarget .45ACP reloads without any issues.
They sell for $20 for a bag of 50 and are always available as long as you shoot them there.
I believe OnTarget gouges their prices in their store to hold stock on ammo. They had a bad ammo shortage a month or so back, where they couldn't rent a good majority of their guns to people cause they just didn't have ammo in stock.
They do this in necessity, so people don't go to their store, buy up all their ammo and take it some where else to shoot. Because of this, they had to even issue the policy that you couldn't just buy their reloads for any other purpose than to shoot them at their range.Comment

Shooting through a squib...DON'T!
I've seen my fair share of squib loads in classes. I'd personally say that you were VERY lucky in avoiding any major disaster. I've seen more than one firearm basically destroyed, and the hand holding the firearm at the time isn't always in any better shape. ALWAYS pay attention to your firearms report. And never shoot reloads from an unknown source. I've seen new factory ammo that had a squib in the box, so rounds from a "friend who has a friend who knows a guy, who..." no thanks.
It sure is tempting with much lower prices and the lack and expensive price of ammo these days. But, buying new factory ammo is still cheaper than replacing a firearm, and more so keeping or having to reattach your hand(s) and other body parts if there's still enough there to reattach!Comment

Video of gun and hand after shooting "through" a probable squib.

I have fired on target reloads but not any more. I had 2 357 reloads spit at me and wedge shaved pieces of the bullet between the forcing cone and top strap. Also have had a handful of 357 cases split. Plus I can get factory new 9mm at walmart cheaper than their reloads.
Last time I found 9mm at Walmart it was about $25 for a WWB of 50.Last edited by JDay; 06-23-2013, 10:03 PM.Oppressors can tyrannize only when they achieve a standing army, an enslaved press, and a disarmed populace. -- James Madison

A guy next to me had a squib with .22. Winchester bulk pack. It really can happen to anybody at any time.
It's not a bad thing to have a squib rod in your range bag, and be extra cautious about that batch of ammo (seems like these things happen in clusters when the machine's screwed up or the operator needed coffee).Comment
