Had my first squib. Anything I should do?

Yesterday, I was shooting my 92FS at On Target using their factory reloads when one of the rounds makes a weird sound, the recoil felt halved, and a ton of smoke is expelled. I field strip it and sure enough, the bullet is lodged about half way through the barrel. Of course, I'm without any proper tools, so the one of the guys behind the counter dislodges it for me. I decide to not shoot any more until I get home and do a thorough cleaning / examination. There doesn't appear to be any damage to anything, nor any scratches inside the barrel.

I assume I'm good to go, but since I've never had a squib before, is there anything else I should need/should do? Could there be any compromise to the barrel or springs? Thanks in advance!

PS - Anyone have experience putting another round down a squib'd barrel? I'm curious what kind of disaster I luckily avoided.

    Choot it!

Since you didn't start stacking up bullets in the barrel, there's not really any chance it was damaged.

I prefer shooting factory ammo only (not factory reloads) if I didn't reload them myself or if someone I trust didn't load them.

Had a friend or girlfriend shot the squid load and you were on another lane, they might have not noticed it or continued to shoot anyway. At the minimum you would have damaged your gun, they might have lost part of their hand or vision.

Make sure they know the ammo they supply is having problems.

Keep shooting, but watch to make sure you're putting holes in the target. If the ammo is bad, get your money back or give to a not so good friend...

I've had a couple squibs from my steel case 9mm boxes. I'm just careful about how fast I shoot.

I don't reload, and I've had two squib loads from decent quality factory ammo.If you shoot often enough the law of averages will catch up.

As long as you tapped out the stuck bullet ,just clean the barrel and get back in the mix.Word to the wise:when shooting at the static range, don't try any malfunction drills .Its counter to what some consider good practice, but I came a split second away from ruining my gun after my last squib load.I racked and went back to my sight picture before mentally thinking "WAIT.....CHECK DAT BARREL"

The gun is ruined and so is the ammo. Send'em to me and I'll dispose them for you at no charge.

I have fired on target reloads but not any more. I had 2 357 reloads spit at me and wedge shaved pieces of the bullet between the forcing cone and top strap. Also have had a handful of 357 cases split. Plus I can get factory new 9mm at walmart cheaper than their reloads.

Load my own and never had a squib load.

Yet. Stay in the hobby long enough, it happens. Just remember not to pull that trigger again if the gun doesn't feel right.

Give the barrel a good cleaning, and you should be ready to carry on.

Err, did you meant to type $25.00?

Cause that's how much a box of WWB 9mm 100rnd pack goes for at Wally World.
