This right here is the key. I have never purchased something that I couldn't put my hands on and inspect in person first before shelling out cash unless it was from a reputable online retailer(Amazon, SummitRacing, etc). Honestly, if something is so rare and you want it so bad that you have to buy it from someone far away, it's more than likely a pricey item. We're talking *Cal*guns here, so it's not like someone is going to be 3000 miles away(usually). Figure out a way to go pick it up in person if you want it that bad.

I don't understand why people buy run of the mill stuff online through forums only to save $50 or whatever compared to buying it locally. Most forum sales fit into this category from my experience. Not worth the risk for such a small reward, IMO.

If it is far away why not have the seller take it into a local gun shop for inspection and have the gun shop call the buyer with an inspection report.

ive had several transactions on this site all in which is was buying ive never sold anything here, how can someone get burned if they dont ship the items untill payment has cleared ? seems pretty simple unless the seller flakes and doesnt ship.

As far as the i trader its hard to say anyone can knock anothers down.Mine was kn ocked down cause one seller was butthurt over a comment i made.Never done business with him either.
If most of someones post were over bad transactions then yes i would then be skeptical.
Someone who posts a lot is somewhat invested in the site, and won't want to ruin their reputation with a bad sale. Someone with under 100 posts though might think they can just make a new account worst case.

What if the item is not as represented? That happens a LOT.

Red flag #1: Their first post is in the FS section.
Red flag #2: They are out of state (when combined with Red flag #1)

I go with my gut. I've sent product to brand new members before receiving payment. I've sent payment and waited months to receive products. I've sent cash in the mail. Etc. I have never been burned on CGN. I have chosen not to do business with certain people (even ftf) just because of a feeling though. BYW, some of the best contacts I've made on this forum have been out of state noobies who have wanted to buy, sell or trade something.

As others have mentioned it is all about gut feeling and the history of their posts. Ratings I think are somewhat misleading since that dbag expertish still has a what...96% rating . I have one rating but I mostly come on here to educate myself on specifics.

It's tough for a noob if no one gives them a chance and takes a leap of faith and deals with someone with little to no iTrader ratings. I mean you gotta start some where. Tough call on basing things on post count. I have been a member since 2008 but only have a handful of posts. Does that make me suspicious to deal with? In my grand total of 5 deals on here I have been good about communicating and did so fairly promptly. I never wanted to give the other party that "iffy" feeling about dealing with me and my low rating count. Guess go with your gut but gotta at least communicate with the low count member before you overlook them. And there's always FTF.

If you are a member of the community and post about things, I won't hesitate to work with you (within reason). If your sole purpose for creating your account was to sell the ammo you just bought at Walmart earlier that day you can pound sand and I don't care what your selling of what price you are selling it for I will not do business with you.
                          Exactly...

Ive been noticing a few people like this trying to pawn off $30 Pmags lately...

I agree. I have sold a couple items but I spend a majority of my time just yakking in the forums.

How do you give feedback or request some

I am unable to find out about giving or receiving feedback. I looked in my ITrader and I don't seem to be able to find anything on how to do it. Can someone point me to the area to do this.
