Wow Rust on all my guns -__-

So I decided to play around with my AR15 and 1911. Just to clean and inspect. I haven't been out shooting in a few months, due to the whole ammo situation. Well I clean my guns after every range trip. a few weeks ago, i cleaned and inspected my guns, just to get it ready for another range trip next month. When I went for my guns, they all had surface rust and flash rust... I don't know what caused it, so what can I do to clean it all up? Is there a place I can go to get it re-coated in orange county ca? I threw some frog lube on it, hoping to whipe it all away...

Wow....... That's really bad do you store your guns outside in the rain?

Have you always used frog lube?
It takes a lot of balls to play golf the way I do.

^ lol no, It's in my Rifle bag. Like I said, I take care of my guns, But have not clue when they rusted like that. So I want to re-coat it, just in case. Yes, I love frog lube, it works very well. The last time I cleaned my gun, I didn't wipe the exterior of the gun down with it. Thats probably why it rusted this time around.

Wiped dry and remove any excess oil and stored in an open storage? That looks like you left them wet and in a foam case.

Applying Froglube to that isn't going to do anything.

            CLP.

I know it won't take off the rust, just looking for some advice on how to get rid of the rust.

Don't keep your guns in a bag meant to get them from your safe to the range, pretty simple really.

Let me guess. Foam padded rifle bag? This would be why you shouldn't use those for long term storage. Get some proper clp and scrub that off. Then re-oil them and store them in a better location.

Damn, that looks like you tossed them in bay for a week. Get a safe. Get a dehumidifying rod.

Bead blast/media blast and re-blue/parkerize/cerakote the parts again is about it. It was an expensive lesson.

You never store steel items in foam or cloth containers. It will hold moisture and cause the rust you see. You neec to store them in a safe with a golden rod in it, or a bag of decassent. I would also leave them a coat of CLP on them. Not dripping wet, but wiped down with a patch with CLP on them.

those bags will attract moisture and speed up the rust process..
