I think you just need some thicker skin. I was laughed at by multiple LGSs when I kept calling to find a Ruger SR22 in stock somewhere a few months ago. I didn't let it bother me though because I knew a lot of people were looking for them at the time. Persistence paid off and I ended up getting one on sale at one of the stores that laughed at me a month before.

It wasn't something too difficult to get just not on roster. Like an xdm 5.25 and a m&p core. Not rare and being they use 4 or 5 distributors they could have said sure and taken the money, I would have paid in full. Or said something like " we can't get this right now but call us and check back occasionally". Instead it is laughing and feeling bothered. They even had mags I was looking for. Didn't feel like telling me the price.

I really have a hard time seeing the logic in opening a gun store right now. Of course, if they have all the left over inventory from the old owner, that may be one thing, but just about all lgs in San Diego has next to nothing in the way of handguns. (Not sure how turners looks). And with this legislation and political climate, I can't see how one can survive.

If you gave me a couple million to open a business, despite loving firearms, I probably would not opt for a gun shop.

I always liked walking in to Southern California Gun. The owner (Steve?) and the crew were always friendly and helpful, and I can't think of any other stores that had a substantially bigger selection. I bought a lot of guns in there over the years.

I'm a leftie, and they never had a problem with special orders when I went in there.
