reading the cnn article, seems less like a "mass shooting" and more like "random people in a crowd were hit by stray gang members' bullets"

The Liberal Gun Control Narrative doesn't work when the victims are black.

Why?

Because then someone might ask why the ghettos are so violent today, and the answer to that question points back to the Leftist Dogma.

Liberals increase welfare, so women are financially motivated to keep their men AWAY from the kids. Said man is forced to pay child support, which means he's gotta make a living-legal or otherwise. The "9-5 on the Corner" leads to bullets flying around the neighborhood, triggering more calls for gun control laws to allegedly solve the problem the same liberal ideology created to begin with. Its hilarious in a sick fashion.

Brady Campaign considers "mass shooting" any shooting that results in more than 2 people (including perpetrator) injured, no deaths necessary. That's probably the media's definition as well.
