    OWWWWW!!!!

    BANG.

Gotta love full power 10mm auto.
Takeup...front sight.... slow press to the rear....

    BOOM...

Gotta love that full power flash and recoi- OW OW OMG That's hOT.....must...keep gun pointed down range . (Snick of the safety)

That's when I put the gun down and dug out the searing hot CorBon 10mm case from behind my neck. The case bounded off the divider and ended up down my back-where it sat atop my Miami Classic shoulder holster's strap joint and burned my neck.It was fun trying to resist the urge to drop my loaded and cocked 10mm pistol to dig out the offending case.

Moral of the story-dont stand directly in the middle of the shooting stall.
The more prohibitions you have, the less virtuous people will be.
The more subsidies you have, the less self reliant people will be.
-Lao-Tzu, Tau Te Ching. 479 BCE

The 1911 may have been in wars for 100 years, but Masetro Bartolomeo Beretta was arming the world 400 years before John Browning was ever a wet dream.

I fondly recall my first piece of hot brass- between my glasses and my temple.

            I was then taught
            1- wear a hat
2- when in clothing- grab the clothing and brass- pull away from skin to let it cool down
Rule 1- ALL GUNS ARE ALWAYS LOADED

Rule 2 -NEVER LET THE MUZZLE COVER ANYTHING YOU ARE NOT PREPARED TO DESTROY (including your hands and legs)

Rule 3 -KEEP YOUR FINGER OFF THE TRIGGER UNTIL YOUR SIGHTS ARE ON THE TARGET

Rule 4 -BE SURE OF YOUR TARGET AND WHAT IS BEYOND IT
            (thanks to Jeff Cooper)

Got one caught between the earpiece of my glasses and my temple. Left a nice burn mark.
I set my gun down gently and ripped off my glasses. My buddies were laughing like the unfeeling bast**ds that they are.
                Sorry, not sorry.

I've had a .40 brass bounce off the wall and wedge itself between my glasses and my eyelid. Luckily I blinked at the right time. Had a heck of a blister on my eyelid that took weeks to heal.

Down the back of your shirt is always the best. Is it going to get stuck there? Is it going to go down your back harmlessly onto the floor? Are you the lucky one who gets a double shot down the shirt into your pants? Well you'll find out in milliseconds. Remember to use all your mental might to set your firearm down while pointed down range before you relieve your already searing flesh. What's that smell?

My LGS has promised me the first 10mm RIA they get. Ivan (the one from Armscor) keeps telling him they're coming.

Your OP made me want my 10mm fix!!!
People don't like to be meddled with. We tell them what to do, what to think, don't run, don't walk. We're in their homes and in their heads and we haven't the right. We're meddlesome.

This happened to me as well. Fortunately I didn't blister but Wow! that stung.
Because of that I always wear a hat when shooting.

                            Hot brass, good distraction practice.

Well, that's one way of saving your brass for reloading.
