I'm approaching my one year cigarette smoking quitting anniversary(patch for 4 days, then cold turkey) this April 29th. All I can say is, that the tabacco smell eventually goes away.

Congrats. It has been more than 2 years for me. 11 pieces of gum, then cold turkey. I am so damn happy I quit.

Oh yeah, for the OP, just let them air out. It might take a while, but it works without risk of ruining them.
