    Tannerite

I went to visit my son last weekend who lives near Reno. We head out to do some shooting and stopped at Scheels first to pickup more ammo. While we were there we noticed a display for something called Tannerite. I saw it and knew I had to have it because there was no way that could be legal in California.

So we head out to a shooting spot a little east of Reno and had a hell of a good time.

You still can but you risk arrest if you mix it.

Pretty much every LGS has this stuff, different brand but same ingredients.

A sheriff came out when people were setting this stuff off at spenceville. No one was arrested or harassed, he left and didn't come back.

its always been illegal, its just under the radar and many LEO are not fimiluar with the law on it. Even so, some just don't care unless they have a complaint to deal with.

Its one of those situations where if they want to arrest you they can and there is no way you are getting a "not guilty" verdict. Its a slam-dunk easy case to win for a DA.

People have been arrested and prosecuted more than once, including at least one conviction. Here is one of my summary posts from 2011 including links, and there may have been more incidents since then.

In DiFi's California, I feel like a criminal just for watching the videos.
Things are a lot more like they used to be than they are now...

All I saw on all of those links were whining and virtual finger wagging, and reminder of how "a guy" got prosecuted. But no links to actual events or news of those events.

I still see it at lgs's and they were definitely posted up at the del mar gun show. They have .22 reactive targets now too. When I asked the tannerite rep, he said its legal as long as you mix it right before use, just don't mix it then drive it out to destination. I know the consensus here is to not use it at all. I would think using it out of state or maybe private property would be best.
