Bought a stolen pistol scenario

No, not me. Happened to a buddy that bought a pistol from armslist.com.

So, technically, he can kiss goodbye his $950 + $35 dros unless, the father(original owner) will return the $950+35. Which, he says so. And begging to just let him take care of his own son. Otherwise, go to court for a civil case. Less than a grand might not be worth it.

The guy (thief) was a 25yrs old addict.

Wait a sec. Remember what role everyone has here. The dad is a victim of theft. In no way does he owe the buyer diddly. The buyer can try to sue the kid, but he'll likely be in jail and be in no position to pay anything back for awhile. The best he can probably do is write it off on his taxes.

I believe if the cops get involved this could be a "Grand Theft Firearm" which is some serious stuff in California, look it up.

IF? The cops are the ones that told the gun dealer it was stolen, lol. The kid is likely going to jail unless it was his first offense and the judge is feeling generous. Yes, stealing a firearm is serious biz but he just sold it rather than robbing anyone with it.
