Hi everyone,
I'm pretty new to purchasing guns. I grew up around guns. Was taught how to use it if I had to, etc. BUT, I've only been out a couple of times to actually shoot and practice. When I was younger my dad was the one to show me and he's the type to make you nervous. I just always thought I was awful and not any good at shooting and figured it was these "big" guns he'd hand over and tell me to fire off.
Long decade short....I finally decided I wanted to pursue obtaining my CCW and knew I'd need to find a handgun of my own (not just something my husband has and that I can shoot if need be) So, the search was on. I purchased a small .22 mag revolver and after about an hour of range time I realized something. I can't shoot very well. I went home, mad, discouraged and pretty ticked off. How was I going to ever be able to get a CCW if I was a total idiot at the range with a target 10 feet in front of me and struggling to get any sort of grouping in an acceptable area.
My husband then asked me, "hey, you golf left handed, right?" I thought about it for a minute. Yep, and play ALL sports left handed. I took my gun out to a great old outdoor "shooting" place (out in the woods) and sure enough! I'm a lefty and thankfully I'm not cross dominant and did ok. BUT, now I'm searching for a CCW gun that is a semi auto...finding all sorts of guns I'd like to carry, but just running ito trouble with the placement of the slide stop or mag release. etc.....
SO, are you a left handed shooter? What is comfortable to you? Or, better yet, anyone else a freak like me and write, eat, use a knife, etc righty but guns and other sports left? Just another issue to overcome. I'm seriously consider a Kahr PM9 (if I can get my hands on one) Or the Ruger LC9 (not so sure the trigger pull will suit me)
Any inside adivice would be great. I've found some thoughts on youtube and of course have heard the "Too bad, just figure it out" line over and over. Easy to say if you are a right handed shooter!
Thanks!
Kt
