The cleaning solvents you choose can be used across all firearms, same goes for most lubrications.

But each firearm is going to have different barrels so you will need barrel brushes for the specific barrels you own. Also, for rifles, you might want a cleaning rod to attach items to in order to send them down the barrel for cleaning.

A very popular options are the boresnake cleaning tools. (Google boresnake). These clean very effectively without having to use patches etc etc.

Everyone is going to like different tools for cleaning. Some like qtips, or used tshirts or whatever they have laying around. Watch youtube for videos on firearm cleaning and you will learn quick.

I like to use Fireclean for my lubrication and Hoppes Elite Gun cleaner since it's non-toxic and does a great job and is not that expensive.

My father in law, a long time San Diego PD officer, still uses WD-40 for his cleaning and lube duties on his Beretta.

To each his own. Just use what works best your and your firearms. Lots of people love Froglube but I found that it burned off quickly and left no lubrication. Of course, it might have been user error.

          Good luck!

the way i like to do it, is purchase basically any cleaning kit, that gives you a good base, and some of the ods and ends things. i am a big fan of boresnakes. but a boresnake is about $25 per caliber. what i do is have a standard kit like mentioned above. then buy boresnakes when you can afford, or when the time comes. as far as lube and solvent i have always used hoppes. basically because the cheap wallmart kits usually come with hoppes. im sure there is better stuff, but i have been using hoppes for at least 10 years and have not noticed any negative affects
