I Stand corrected by Doheny. I did violate the vehicle code in this instance, and he did not cite me because he chose not to.

However, and with all due respect, the way worded things in your first post makes you come off as an individual who has never, and will never violate the vehicle code. We ALL violate te vehicle code, whether we try to or not. Not all of us get caught. I made a simple mistake and it lead to me getting pulled over. I could care less about getting pulled over because of a missing plate. What I care about is the useful information and discussion my experience can help provide. This is a forum for firearm owners in California after all, and I feel my experience helps us share information, and experiences that may be used as a reference for other members. That is all. That is why this thread exists, and that is why many calgunners have posted in this thread. I do not intend to waste people's time with this tread, and I feel that a simple reply saying "don't violate the vehicle code and this won't happen" is not relevant to the fundamentals of this discussion. The discussion being "why was I asked about my firearms when I was pulled over regarding a missing plate, and why did the officer tell me that dispatch relayed to him that I was a gun owner."

762ch, I will try to contact the LEO agency to ask them about their policy concerning the matter. I will post what they say here.

I actually got stopped recently by the L.A County Sheriffs; the Deputies asked me 3-4 times if I had guns/weapons in the car. I didn't think much of it. Just assumed it was the standard question.

CBR, we need more officers with your attitude. Answer the questions matter of fact and very helpful and no power trip. Very refreshing. Sometimes on CG we get frustrated with authority and some of the laws passed but it is honestly not Police bashing. You seem to get it. Thanks.
