I am done iwth this thread. I have made my point some tried to call it BS I know what went down and I am not goign to ge tin a pissing game but dont call bs with out all the fact!
Here are two pictures of the package one opened and one closed
I can appreciate you trying to defend yourself by posting pics of some "unknown" container, but you have proven nothing - those pics could be of something entirely seperate than the package you opened at the store. Bottom line: if the service was that bad, don't go back.

I don't understand how you couldn't see what the product was through the packaging. Looks pretty see-through to me. I wouldn't want you to fondle it either. But then again I don't run their shop. Interesting to hear both sides.

But then again, I'm just another satisfied RCGE customer, who, apparently, is a glutton for punishment as I'll just be going back for more.

Me and my friends have purchased many guns for River City Gun Ex and I've found their customer service to be quite good. Closest thing I've gotten to being treated like I don't know anything is when purchasing a handgun, where they were constantly telling me about the proof of residency. In all honesty though I'm sure that they have had multiple occasions where someone dropped that ball and wasn't listening so I'm not going to hold it against them. Hell we live in a state that is doing everything in it's power to take our guns away from us and they live shouting distance from the demon's lair, so God knows that if anything they have to be on guard at all times.

That packaging looks pretty intact to me. I wouldnt have had any problem letting you remove the item to have a closer look. Some of you may be in defence of the establishment because of the good experiences you may have had however that dosent preclude poor customer relationship skills in dealing with valued or new cliental. My opinion may be biased because I do not have any experiences with RCGE ( but others have expressed the old timers a little cranky ) but I do know the gentleman that has had the bad experience that used this forum to express his opinion. Pretty stand up guy that would give you the shirt off his back if asked. And for some that would imply that he is telling less then the truth....thats where I stick my neck out in defence of my friend. Remember that opinions are like @##$%%, everybodys got one and if you dont like it then you can agree to disagree!

I agree wholeheartedly! I have to be some kind of masochistic bastard who loves to be rubbed ALL over w/ a rusty cheese grater to want to even think of walking in to River City. You should see the scars I have now from just Dave " Dynamic Personality" W. ALONE!!!!

Being one of those that are in defense of RIVER CITY GUN EXCHANGE ON FRUITRIDGE & 24th (THEY HAVE GREAT SELECTION/PRICES, SO GIVE THEM YOUR BUSINESS!!! -- just a little plug / token of my appreciation for all you've done for me & others, Don!) this whole "dilemma" could have been avoided so very easily had just one simple thing been added to the equation (that most people are seemingly missing here): GOOD MANNERS!! If the customer had asked for permission to open the package, permission would have been granted. Some people are simply sticklers about good manners (my grandfather instilled them in me), and Paul happens to be one of them. Peace.

I had a great first time experience at River City.

Second, I hate when customers open and fondle merchandise of any kind, no matter how intent the customer is on purchasing, and no matter how resealable the package is.

Thats why the packages are clear and boxes have pictures.

Rivercity Rocks. To answer a few newbie questions. They don't sell OLLs, they sell Vulcan and Carbon15 DOJ lowers. They're a great shop. Like many, they are uneasy about people blabbing about AR-15s. Sounds like this may have been the case here.

I've seen the old guy get pissed and kick someone out someone before. That idiot was ghetto and asking about silencers and automatics.

I greatly appreciate the RCGE. I've had no problems with them. They've even let me return accessories, no questions asked. Thank you for letting me exchange that shoulder holster. They are also very pro-2nd amendment. For all those who don't know, they also have a good ammo supply.

+1 River City is a great store. Best selection of guns and ammo in Sac

I will say that Paul is a good guy and knows his stuff - and if you want to listen to what he has to say, he will go the extra mile for you. If you ask his opinion and then ignore it, you may just have to deal with a bit of crankiness. I've wasted a lot of his time fondling different items and he's always been patient with me. Don is another great guy who also has a lot of patience.

You just have to realize that if you ask a good question from these guys, you should be prepared to listen/act on the answer. And you have to realize that there are stupid questions.

Thank God you guys are finally coming out of the woodwork to tell the truth about RCGE. With only one exception (hi, Bob!!), they are THE FFL of the entire Sacramento Valley. And, I'd say they are pretty much a tie, anyway. Both top-notch operations w/ a lot of class. Keep the Kudos coming, Sac guys!!!!
