just noticed you got the compact. Not the biggest fan because of the short grip feels weird in my hand (most people dont care or even like it) its a personal thing and obviously you like it so congrats. Lets here how she does on the range in a couple weeks.

Good choice! I have both the Glock 19 and the M&P 9C and I love them both. I only picked up the compact yesterday and barely had time to put 30 rounds through it, but I like it a lot. The lack of a pinky hold will take some getting used to, but I bought it for its ease of concealment. I also have a M&P 9FS, so I think that I'll improve quickly in my accuracy with the compact.
I'm still pretty new to the Glock platform since I've only had the 19 for about 2 weeks and I've been very impressed by it. It's a curiously perfect size where it can do just about everything. Don't rule out owning one down the road!
Good luck in finding ammo and have fun shooting it! Feel free to ask if you have any questions.Comment

I personally feel that the glock is *the best* handgun out there

Same with a glock 19I've never shot a Glock but I love my M&P40. It's a tri-caliber pistol cause you can put a 9mm conversion barrel in it and it'll shoot 9s with a factory 9mm magazine. You can also put a .357 Sig factory barrel in it and the 40 magazine is also marked with .357 so you don't even need a different mag.

i always tell people to go and try them out... Glocks, M&P's, Sig's (metal frame), XD's, Beretta 92/96, are at pretty much any range you go to. Probably because they are the most common/favorite pistols out currently.
When I purchased my first pistol I was dead set on a Glock 17 or 34 (getting into USPSA at the time). I decided to go to the range to do my due diligence and ended up liking and shooting the SA XD9 the best, so that's what I bought.
Long story short: buy what fits YOUR hand, and what YOU are comfortable with.
ps. congrats on the M&P Compact!CRPA Lifetime MemberComment

no... the Glock 23, 22, 24, 35 (or the 357 counterparts) would be able to accommodate the smaller 9mm and not the other way around with the use of a conversion barrel (the breach face wouldn't accommodate the .02" difference in size).

No joke - I think ammo is about as hard to find as guns.
Thanks all, my 10days ends 3/17. Shop is closed 3/17 and 3/18, so I'll be picking up my new "not a toy" 3/19. Can't wait to get on the range. I feel like a kid at Christmas time

I picked up my first M&P (40c) yesterday. All I can say is "Wow, where have you been all my life?"
This is the first handgun I've owned with an ambi slide release. Being a lefty, it's pretty darn cool that the pistol if fully ambidextrous. I love the ergos, too.
And, I had my first exposure to S&W's excellent customer service. I noticed that the frame tool locking tab was a little buggered-up. I emailed their CS last night at 10:25pm asking if they could replace it. They emailed me this morning at 06:57am telling me that a replacement was on the way.
Loving their Lifetime Service plan!
You will never, in your life, have a chance like this again.
If I were you, I would not pass this up. I would not let this go by...this is rare.
Come on...what harm??

Were you able to determine if it had the newer Shield style trigger with the good positive (dare I say 'Glockish') trigger reset point?
Would like an M&P but don't care for the trigger, yeah I'm aware of the Apex trigger but prefer pure stock for carry guns.Comment

Yeah your right, I meant to say 23-19no... the Glock 23, 22, 24, 35 (or the 357 counterparts) would be able to accommodate the smaller 9mm and not the other way around with the use of a conversion barrel (the breach face wouldn't accommodate the .02" difference in size).
