    Reed's Sporting goods?

I was in another sporting goods store yesterday and they told me that the Alum Rock store lost it's ffl, so they were transferring all the guns to the range. Does anyone know if this is true?

I was at Reed's yesterday with my wife picking up her new Kimber Pro Carry HD II and the salesman said they are closing the shop and moving all the guns to the Reed's Range location.

Gone will be all the bike, fishing and other stuff they don't need.

I don't know if it's FFL related though.

Really? If true, that's too bad. Despite their high prices, Reed's is one of the better-stocked dealers around. It's always nice to go ogle stuff there. Yeah, the service can be grumpy sometimes, but I've also gotten quite good service from the people there. At least the guns will still be available at the range it sounds like. I wish them well.

        Good Riddance Reeds!!!!

Maybe the guys that work in the gun department can get jobs at the DMV, seeing as how there about as helpful and pleasant to be around as the typical government worker.

And how they always contribute the most $$$ every year to the NRA Foundation to fund hunting and shooting programs. Plus Jim's annoying involvement in local politics which has forestalled a lot of stupidity at the County level.

Well that sucks. Too bad you guys have had bad experiences with Reeds employees - I've got nothing but good things to say about them. Every time I've been in there, they've been friendly and very helpful. I'm still learning about guns and hunting, and several of the guys there have shown patience with me, explained things to me, and made some really good recommendations. I'll definitely miss being able to swing in there on my commute home.

I definitely can't say the same about Mel Cottons - the older guys that work in the hunting department are OK, but the younger ones don't have a clue what they're talking about - and this is coming from a person who admits that he's still a newbie. It seems like if they don't know the answer, they'll make stuff up.

Yeah, whatever you may think about them, the last thing we need is to lose another Bay Area gun shop. They obviously filled a niche all this time...

I didn't realize Mel Cotton's even still had a FFL.

Just got back from Reed's. It's true. They are closing the Alum Rock store.

I wouldn't expect too many good deals since they are transferring everything firearms related to the range.

Kinda sad to see them go; they we're a San Jose classic.

Yeah a little high in price but we *can't* afford to keep losing FFLs like this.
