Gun show, go on first day vs second

So there is a gun show coming in March, and I was wondering if it's better to go on the first day in the early morning vs the second day in the early morning. Are all of the deals usually on the first day?

If you want ammo be there at door opening on Sat.
For non-mall ninja stuff Sun PM should be okay.

If you've never been, it's a must see. I can only imagine the desperation on peoples faces nowadays, worth it for that alone.

Hey BucDan, I would only bite the bullet (forgive the bad pun) and go to a show if i needed ammo (really really bad) other than that, most everything that you are looking for you could probably find on Amazon. Go on Sat if you really need something but be prepared to spend $$$. In these times, the very last people to bring their prices down are gonna be the vendors at the shows. They rely on people not being very well informed and impulse buys.

If you're in C&R guns at all, you might even want to get there well before it opens. It won't be this way for much longer (till 2014 I think), but if it's a private seller you can cash and carry C&R guns. That means no DROS or tax or 10 day waiting period.

Some of my friends have found some pretty cool rifles at gun shows, and I actually found a nice 1925 Tula Mosin-Nagant for $150 OTD. That might sound like a lot, but it is actually cheaper (not to mention way more collectible) than the mid-war Izhevsks that you typically find at Big 5. ;-)

I went to the Reno Crossroads show a couple of weeks ago. There were 200 people in line when I showed up an hour before they opened the doors. By the time I got to the door there were at least 700 people behind me. I strolled around for about a 1/2 hour and then went over to a long line along the back wall and asked what it was for. Dude said it was for the "Ammo Corral" where they have bulk ammo. I asked if the prices were good and he said he would find out once he got there. And he said the wait at his spot to get there was about 2 hours. No thanks. It was worth it just to see everyone around the high capacity magazine vendor's tables. CRAZY!!!! And the magazine prices? $35 for USGI 223 30rd, $90 for factory Ruger 30rd Mini 14, $60 PMAG 30rd 223, $90 PMAG 30rd 308. CRAAAAAZY!!!

Both days are good to attend for different stuff. If you want common ammo and other non-rare stuff, go Saturday before it's all sold. Vendors buy a certain amount of this type of stuff to peddle at the shows, and when it's gone, they re-order.

If you want unusual stuff or a particular gun, go Sunday. Although off-the-wall stuff is sometimes priced too low and sold the instant someone sees it, it's less likely these days with crazy ammo and gun prices. But there might be a gun or other high-dollar item that the vendor would rather sell at a big discount than haul back home. Especially if it's been a bad show for them (BTDT).
