Transporting guns in a vehicle

I use deposit bags.

I throw them all in a backpack. Makes things look a bit better if pulled over. Seeing a back seat with a few of the deposit bags may get the attention of an officer.

On the ammo part, does it make any difference if the ammo is in the magazine for the firearm vs in boxes?
The magazine of course would not be in the firearm, but it would be in the same "locked container" as the firearm... for example both being in a range bag with a lock on the main zipper in an SUV or truck (no trunk).

Mags can be loaded and in same locked container* as handgun, so long as it isn't inserted in any shape or form.

*Or unlocked container in your locked trunk

On an unreleated-related note, since I've seen some people overlook this fact - Once in a locked container, you can then use your console or glovebox for storage.

No, no difference. Other than 'not in the gun', which is actually a gun-transport issue, CA does not care how you transport ammunition.

I do for my AR-10, but I'd love to have one of these for handguns (hate the "zombie" crap they tagged this with). I saw one at a range a couple of moths ago, very slick!
