I'm just reading this thread and trying to process what's going on. It looks like there is already a group of CalGunners stepping up. I'm here to help with anything that I can.

Anyone going to the meet at IVE tonight? We can discuss it some more then. If not, I'll catch up with where we are tonight and go from there.

Quick update:

Awesome, awesome news everyone! I put out a feeler to Island View Enterprises Inc. of Ventura earlier, seeing if they'd be interested in being part of this for range and FFL services.

Well just got off the phone w/ a manager there (Nick) who said that on behalf of the owner they are donating a Silver Membership to our friend here!

If that's not deserving of thanks and even patronage, I don't know what is.

Spoke to the compamy and they called Kevin directly to know exactly what he needed and got it all ordered. They said they'll ship tomorrow and I should have it by end of next week. After I get it I'll fly up to Kevin and we'll go to the range and have some fun, I have a few guns he'll like shooting

If anyone wants to setup a fund lets do it and get this guy a new gun to go with it all!

Alright, I've been thinking a lot about this.

I'm ready to take point on the donations/gear part of this effort (of course w/ kevrok's blessing, I'll call him in a bit).

Here's a short run down of what I'm thinking and the way I see it going down:

Use gofundme. to collect funds.

Thinking around $1200 - 1500 total.

Funds used for
1. Boomstick of choice including fees, taxes etc ($5 - 700)
2. Ammo ($???)
3. Lock box (if he doesn't already have one) ($???)
4. Range membership close to kevrok805, preference to a CGN friendly range. ($???)
5. Leftover funds either cash to kevrok805, donation to charity of his choice, or maybe funds for a shoot n que. I'd reserve the right to make the final call on any extras but it would definitely be one of the above options.

Time frame from start to finish would be around TWO WEEKS and I'd shoot for absolutely no more than 4 weeks. Obviously the sooner the better.

I don't really have anyone on CGN to vouche for me except for itrader, all I can say is "I swear to conduct this honorably and faithfully and not one red cent will be misused". I'm a detailed oriented person and I know I can pull it off. I'll keep a full accounting that will be available to anyone who wants it (no personal info of donors etc given). It's not like I'm selling you guys your choice of premium mosin's!

Of course others could contribute however they see fit but I figure this would give a bunch of us an easy avenue.

Hmm... that's about it for now, any suggestions are welcome and if a couple of you would chime in with yay's I'll go ahead and proceed. Gotta run, luch hour's over!

ETA: another use for funds could be to reimburse baboosh a portion of the cost for the gear he's getting.

Wow, what a response. Hats off to all that are donating and helping out. I would love to donate but with the wife laid off money is super tight; however, maybe some of us who are in similar situations (as mine) could donate ammo. Can you list caliber(s) and tell us who to PM for an address?, I have a small stockpile of various calibers and reload so I would be willing to send some ammo to Kevin.
