Because they own it and probably have good cause from experience.

          The correct answer is this:

90% economics. Do you know how much they make selling overpriced reloads to people who thought they were going to shoot their own ammo?

While that definitely plays a part, have you ever seen what happens when sparks from a ricochet ignites unburnt powder on the floor of an indoor range? All SORTS of interesting.

My local range uses rubber in front of the steel plates, and while the rubber is treated with a fire retardant, I'd hate to see what would happen to THAT if a steel core sparked in it.

I think certain ammo tears up the backstop and walls.

Also some insurance companies have requirements.

Yes, the ventilation system at Riverside Magnum Range is not the greatest especially when they have a full range of shooters. There were a couple of times when I had to walk out of the shooting range to allow the smoke to clear.

Does anyone have any input on the Blazer Aluminum 45ACP ammo? Good or Bad?

What about ranges that don't allow defensive hollow point ammo?

Insight in Artesia doesn't allow it while Field Time in Stanton does. Field Time is the better range but Insight is closer to me and I'd like to test out some defensive ammo.

Doesn't matter too much now though... haven't even found the ammo to buy

When i was in texas we stopped at a shooting range in mesquite. They were overly-addamate about not shooting steal at the range. I guess the week before someone was at another local range and sparks from a steel round caught all the old gunpowder on fire and the place burned down? So i guess it does happen.
"Then there are sheepdogs. The sheepdogs are the bastions of safety. The sheepdog lives solely to protect the flock and confront the wolf. They live for the opportunity to be called to duty to protect the innocent. The sheepdog has fangs and the propensity for violence but hopes that he will not have to resort to it. However, he lives for that day when he will be able to use his warrior skills and mindset to keep the wolf from harming the sheep."

This, and because tiny evil demons ride on steel core, tracer, incendiary, and AP bullets, guiding them to the targets. You can hear them scream if the bullets ricochet.

                              Insurance requirements

Wear and tear on the backstop

                              Fragments

Some of them reload or sell brass to reloaders for extra income.

                              lot of reasons.

On Target "officially" does not allow steel cased ammo. I noticed this and pointed it out on the forms I was initialing when signing up for my membership there. When asked, the guy helping with my paperwork said that they allowed steel cased ammo but that I would be responsible if any damage occurs as a result. In fact I saw some TulAmmo sitting on their ammo shelves...
