I Have Two M91/30 Mosin Nagants and I want to keep one Pure Factory Stock and then Sporterize the Other and make it into a Range Rifle for my Brothers, But im very Nervous because I dont have the Proper tools to modify if needed.
so im here to ask simple Questions about some of the Aftermarket Products and Accessories and Hopefully some of you can help me, now I dont want to start problems about people ruining history by sporterizing or start any Arguements of any sort so PLEASE Dont bring anything like that to this Table I just need some Help and I would rather talk in a Invite-Free Forum than go anywhere Else

So please Feel free to tell me about your experiences of Success and Misfortune because I would rather gain the Knowledge of People who have experienced it than go in blind.... thats like bringing a Spoon to a Gunfight...

Has anyone Taken their Mosin Nagant from its Original Stock and placed it into the ATI Monte Carlo Aftermarket Stock?
and if you have can i ask what else have you done to it?
im Talking about Picatinny Rails and Bipods?

      * because i'm looking to put on the ATI Monte Carlo Stock, and then put on the UTG Tactical Mosin Nagant Tri-Rail Mount for a Scope, but then I was also looking to put a Barrel Tighten Bipod like the Universal Bipod Mount.

So if anyone has Done ANY of these things to their 91/30 please Let me know, I Appreciate the Help Thank You All.

Its fairly easy. There are youtube videos showing you how and I saw a scope set at Big 5. It has everything you need to mount a scope rail where the leaf sight is now. That is easy to do as well.

I would not try and modify the Bolt to have a bent handle unless you are very familur with metal work. I would buy a bent bolt on e-bay, not a cut bolt.

Installing the Monte Carlo stock is pretty simple. The most I've ever heard of anyone havign tod o to it was grind it down some. Depends on the rifle. Even then you can do it with some patience and a piece of sandpaper.

You can cut the barrell down a recrown with a brass screw. The ATI stock might need some trimming for the extractor. You'll know if the shell wont eject.
Everything else you mentioned is gtg.

Just don't try and jb weld the scope mount to the gun, not saying you will but I have wouldn't call him a friend but my wife's friends husband, he not the sharpest tool in the shed, he also bought a cheap 20 dollar scope, I told him its not going to handle the recoil of an m44, well first shot scope came off smacked him in the face and cracked the glass and gave him a nice bruise, just take your time and don't cut corners, if your do mess up there are plenty of mosin's out there

I will stay far away from ATI stock... I replaced my MN with that stock and I noticed significant loss of accuracy due to the flex in the stock.

If I have to do it again I will look into getting the Boyd's MN stock.

If you really like the ATI stock, PM me and I will sell you a lightly used ATI stock for $50.

+1, the ATI stock fit and finish isn't very good. You may have to do quite a bit of sanding to get it to fit right.

Scope wise I took the 2 pins holding the rear sight out and there is a dove tail rail underneath it and I got a expensive set of 22 scope rings which fit perfectlyand got a long eye relief scope off Amazon. While on Amazon also picked up the ATI stock and a cheap bi pod . No mods needed for the stock and all went together great and is a blast t shoot . Pun intended. If you have any questions feel free to pm me oh and welcome.
