Meh, I think I'm gonna take a break, I'm switching from one money pit to the next. I'm gonna finish up my Hot Rod projects till this ammo "shortage" blows over....

It cost me .12/round for 45, .09/9mm, .20-30/round of .223 depending on the size bullet I use. Nope, I will keep shooting.

I'm new to this scene, the moment I bought my first handgun and a membership to the range for the wife and I, NO MORE AMMO. I could buy it at the range but I would need to take out a personal loan.

I have all I really need. A few thousand rounds of shtf ammo I have had stashed away for the last 20 years, that will never go bad, and a bunch of assorted range and hunting ammo. I have enough hunting ammo to last the rest of my life. The price, the trouble finding ammo, not worth it. I like to shoot and all, but it's just one of many hobbies, and not $500-$1000 a trip fun. If the 5 cent a bullet tax, ammo licence, or any of that pass, I'm done for good until I move out of California. I pay enough tax as it is.

100% agree, sad as it is. I have enough SHTF ammo, and about 200rnds left alotted for some training. Then, like you, I'm done until things change or I move.

I also have a good stockpile of components.
I'm done buying ammo, but I have more than enough components to shoot for a few years.
When prices normalize again, I will re-supply.
That's the advantage of reloading ad buying components in bulk when the deals pop up.
I really feel sorry for all the suckers paying over 20 cents a round for 223 ammo while I am still loading my own for under 15 cents a round.

Give reloading some thought and you can shoot more and won't be handicapped by current affairs. Very modest investment to begin with but like your guns it has a life of its own and will grow larger over the years.

After years of just shooting airguns, while my powder burners collect dust, I've got a renewed itch to go shooting. Besides, I've got to sight in and familiarize myself with all the new acquisitions from the past month(they're mostly rimfires). I've got to get the wife out as well.

Buy in bulk when there is no shortage of supply.
For you, that mignt mean waiting 6-9 months if you did not stock up 3-6 months ago when everything was readily available.

That should be an ant, shouldn't it? I guess I'm going to have to get into reloading when supplies become available again.

My buddy thought I was nuts when I bought 40k in primers last year and enough powder to load them, yet he kept buying 1911's. I talked him into buying a brick(5k) of primers at a gun show and now he is glad I talked him into it.

Stopped shooting because of school I stocked throughout the year on any gun related items.

I bought in bulk and so for 1000 rounds of 45 I buy 1000 lead bullets($75-80), 1000 primers($25), and about $10 in powder to load them. It's actually a little less then .12 but sometimes the lead is a few bucks more. Once this settles down, find a group buy in your area by checking the reloading section and that way you can get the biggest discount without having to buy it all yourself.

maybe less at the pistol/rifle range. but i'm still shooting trap. got to keep that up. my best "24" was 23 straight vs. missing one in the middle of the round. was shooting alone after my teammates last league left. so i was in a groove.
