    AR or M1a ?

I like ARs but IMO the Springfield M1a is just superior in everyway.

What are some of the reasons people choose AR's over M1a ?

Price and versatility of the AR platform. The M1A is a great rifle, but costs more to buy and shoot.

    I still want one though!

They're totally different rifles. The AR is considerably less expensive to shoot, cheaper to buy, easier to build, recoils less...

Ar is a great gun, built mine for 700$.
Ar u can change the uppers that's big plus
            Ar is easier to customize
Parts are usually easier too find
Its Got the tactical look if u like that
And is cheaper to shoot well during normal ammo prices, not right now.

M1a ia amazing gun not sure if u can get 1 any near that cheap
            Its 1 Calibur
It's heavier or at least feels heavier
            Ammo more expensive
Ill get flak on this but, it's more reliable with in shtf

              M1A Standard (cheapest M1A) has a msrp of $1,640.00
I still like to have one, little higher up version one day.

I don't like the way my M1A would "short stroke"if my fingers would accidentally grip the operating rod.I know it was my fault and I was gripping it incorrectly but I still don't like it.AR for me....sold the M1A long ago

Maybe one should learn the proper method to shoot?

Simple AR to plink and M1A to put holes through something at distance Both fine weapons. Wait till the prices drop.

                        Are you sure?

I don't think I ever saw a m1a in any model new or used go for $700 last year let alone under $1k....

At those prices I would have picked a bunch ...

Dave's Magnum Range had a minty for 799$ ~August and they mark up a little. Saw one last spring at the Glendale gun show for 750$...wasn't even looking for one at the time. But I sold my 8mm Mauser and could use a shoulder puncher again.

Man that's a great deal... Do you know which model it was? That's like half the MSRP price of a standard...

Never get those kinda deals around me ....
