After panic, which stores will you support or boycott?

Big 5 reps are not a good source of info. Only partially true.I'll definitely be boycotting California Police Equipment.
I just called California Police Equipment, a local store here in San Diego, looking for anything in .40 S&W or 7.62X39. They female who I spoke with told me they had nothing in .40 and said they had some 20 round boxes of WPA in 7.62X39. When I asked her the price, she said "$15.99" to which I replied "That's $5 a box ammo.". She then said "Yeah, good luck finding it, we have to charge a premium now.", then laughed at me. So basically she admitted to price gouging and thought it was funny. Nothing funny about sticking it to fellow shooters. I'll never set foot in that store, even if they were giving ammo away for free.
I also called my local Big 5 and was told by the salesperson that their ammo shipments are next to nothing anymore. He said the reason is because of a 3 year contract between the US Government and the ammo manufacturers. He went on to explain that the US Government has been buying up everything they can get their hand on in .223, 5.56, 7.62X39, 9mm and 40 S&W. He said that the shortage in supply is expected until at least May.

Smith & Wesson-is running at Full capacity making 300+ guns/day-mainly M&P pistols. They are unable to produce any more guns to help with the shortages.
RUGER: Plans to increase from 75% to 100% in the next 90 days.
FNH: Moving from 50% production to 75% by Feb 1st and 100% by March 1. Remington-Maxed out!
Armalite: Maxed out.
DPMS: Can’t get enough parts to produce any more product.
COLT: Production runs increasing weekly…bottle necked by Bolt carrier’s.
LWRC:Making only black guns, running at full capacity…can’t get enough gun quality steel to make barrels.
Springfield Armory: Only company who can meet demand but are running 30-45 days behind.
AMMO: Every caliber is now Allocated! We are looking at a nation wide shortage of all calibers over the next 9 months. All plants are producing as much ammo as possible w/ of 1 BILLION rounds produced weekly. Most is military followed by L.E. and civilians are third in line.
MAGPUL is behind 1 MILLION mags, do not expect any large quantities of magpul anytime soon.
RELOADERS… ALL Remington, Winchester, CCI & Federal primers are going to ammo FIRST. There are no extra’s for reloading purposes… it could be 6-9 months before things get caught up. Sorry for the bleak news, but now we know what to expect in the coming months. Stay tuned, we’ll keep you posted…

I don't buy from Cheaper than Dirt and the only reason I buy from Canyon Sports is because they have the guns in stock. The guy who helped me was rude then nice then rude then nice again. He was totally rude to my wife. I just wanted to finish so I could buy the gun and leave. If tracy Rifle and Pistol had it I would go there first because they are way nicer.sigpicComment

The prices for AR15 rifles and lowers are sky high at my local gun shops. But then again 100% of AR15 rifles and lowers at all the shops in town are all on consignment, someone else is borrowing their shelf space to sell their stuff. i.e. $2,800 used double star ar15 rifle and no name used stripped AR15 lower receiver for $550.
PMC .223/5.56 is typically stocked around here but at $12/box all over town instead of $7-8/box. Steel cased 5.56/.223 is selling for the same price as the brass stuff too. All the same goes for 7.62x39 up here.
Been patronizing cabelas, brownells and centerfire systems just for the 7.62 that is inflated yet not sky rocketing when stocked.NRA Endowment MemberComment

Ammo not Guns
I think you missed my point. The contract was for ammunition, not firearms.AMMO: Every caliber is now Allocated! We are looking at a nation wide shortage of all calibers over the next 9 months. I'm really impressed with Riflegear. Too many gunstores are dark, damp, and run by obeise jerks. RG is the only gunstore in SoCal that is clean, well lit, and staffed with folks who can represent their store well.
RG is sold out of everything worth buying, but in a couple years when there stock comes back, I'll be dropping some coin there.Comment

I just bought some new Hogue furniture for my WASR from Midway USA at a very fair price. In fact it was on clearance, which I thought was strange since most places are out of stock and have the item on back order.

I'll probably get my AR from RifleGear, once things settle down...might be a while, I'll wait

I won't be boycotting any of the shops and if a shop has something at a price I want to pay, I'll buy it. I have some I will favor more then others but we are going to lose more then a few gun stores because of this panic and that is part of their plan.Originally posted by barrageThat's because Excelsior threads are like toilet bowls.
