So who would like to rent their M4 upper?

Once again, Kerstyll, if this is off limits feel free to lock this thread. But I couldn't see this being against the rules.

    Short version:
The old man and I are going to shoot on Monday. I'd like to know if anyone in the Fresno/Hanford area would like to "rent" their upper to me for one day. We will probably put less than 100 rounds through it and I'll pay a fair price for it's usage. You will have it back Monday afternoon or Tuesday morning.

    Long version:
I ordered a CMMG upper from shootforless.com on January 31. They had quoted me 7-14 business days after my credit card was charged before I would have it in my hands. I had my father and brother make plans in the schedule (they work weekends so they had to find people to cover them) so we can all go out and shoot.

While my CC was charged that day, I was told that it might take a couple of more days to get my order. The excuse was that Shot Show was coming up and CMMG was going to be there and everything was getting backlogged for a couple of days. OK. Fine. When I call shootforless again after giving them more than enough time to "recover" from ShotShow, they say that CMMG has not been returning any of their phone calls. As soon as CMMG calls them, they will call me.

Another week or so goes by and then the private messages from shootforless stop coming. Now I get worried. By now, I've had to push back our shooting day two times already. Another week passes with no word from shootforless then out of frustration I call them. No answer, only voicemail. After a couple of days I finally get someone and am informed that he was in the hospital this past week.

Ok. Fine. Medical emergency. Nothing anybody can do about that. Schtuff happens. Shootforless then tells me that they will call Linda at CMMG and have them overnight the upper to me. Great! I make the shooting date for the following weekend. I don't get a reply back from shootforless. By now, I've come to the conclusion that shootforless must have died at the hospital and I have to take matters into my own hands.

I call CMMG myself and come to find they have no idea what the status of my order is or if it even exists. The lady says she'll call me back after she "looks around". "Finally" I say. They have my last name and address so they should call me back in no time. No call. I call back the next morning, the same lady answers me and then tells me to hold while she gets Linda. She is then instructed to inform me that I'll have to go to shootforless and have them contact CMMG for an order status update because they don't give updates to the actual customers.

FRICK. "Dad, sorry we gotta push the date back again. I hope I didn't ruin your day again." So shootforless isn't answering voice messages or PMs; I gave them the benefit of the doubt it must be some sort of serious family/medical. The only problem is they've had my money for two months now. CMMG is just being a bitch.

And I really don't want to keep disrespecting my dad by scheduling a day to shoot then having to tell him the day before we can't go for the fourth time. All I would like is for someone to let me borrow an M4 upper for one half day.

I have no brand preference; it can be an A2 or A3 upper, it can have a 14.5"+phantom compensator, or a 16" HBAR, lightweight, medcon. I don't care. I will pay $40 for your generosity. If necessary I will clean it before I return in, but if you have your own cleaning methods I won't mess with it.

Call your CC company and ask for the charges to be reversed due to no delivery of item(s) you ordered.

That's the last thing a business needs is to have chargebacks on their CC processing transactions. Doesn't look good.

Over 15 years of running businesses, and I have never had a chargeback. Got to take care of the customers.

I think I will give my CC company a call today.

One thing I wanted to make clear was, I hate to be a PITA customer. When I spoke to them at shootforless.com, they seemed like nice people and I really understand that medical emergencies happen. But I've been told twice that "The upper is ready and I see no reason for it to not be shipped today". TWICE. Yet, there is nothing in my hands. That's kind of unacceptable.

WOW. The Calguns community is great; Oleboy just offered to let me use his upper and this thread has been up for less than an hour! I'm starting to feel one of the family here. Once again, I appreciate every one's willingness to help. Justin, I'll see you Saturday.

Not to thread jack, but has anyone else been able to get in touch with Jamie at shootforless? He and I had/have a deal and were supposed to meet a couple weeks ago at the Ventura Gun Show, but he didn't show or call and I haven't heard from him.

Fresno isn't as far north as I thought.. only 220 miles from me!

Glad you found an upper to use!

                          If you're a driver, 220 miles ain't nothin'! Especially for an M4!

                          Thanks again everyone.

Good to see you found what you were looking for. I was going to rent you the Chief, but he is more of a "lower" than an "upper"...
