How much longer the 223 panic

Now that we know that there is no ammo related legislation pending nationwide, will the panic stop? Logic would dictate that after yesterday's announcements, ammo panic buying should stop. Actually... same for AR15s... (I don't see a ban passing Congress). I realize that clearing the backlog will take time, but do you think the panic has stopped?

Disclaimer: no, I don't think this will be the last attempt to come after guns, but not again anytime soon.

I see the ammo shortage happening for a few years. I think their will always be a shortage for .223, maybe not so much with .308, 9mm or .45. Its just too much of a popular round.

      Why?

There was no shortage a little over one month ago, and nothing has changed legislation-wise regarding 223.

I read there are millions of 5.56, and .223 rifles (AR, Mini-14, Bolt action rifles, etc), and thus billions of rounds needed to supply that demand, and then there are the hoarders... There is never a shortage once you purchase a reloading press...

I don't think there are million more ARs than a month ago (with all the panic buying). Why still panic buy the ammo?

There is a shortage of primers and H335.

The panic buying of 223 ammo before yesterday was justified. Ammo related legislation could have become very restrictive. But it hasn't...

IMO, the panic buying of 223 after yesterday is completely irrational.

Not replenished yet, they only had a day to ship...?

I have never used H335, but 10,000 primers lasts a while...

I disagree, I believe this thread is highly original

This is not one of the many threads that we had before yesterday. Those threads were pretty much useless, exercises in hand wringing. Today, when we know the proposed legislation, the discussion is entirely different.

I personally am simply curious how long a panic can sustain itself without a real basis.

Being that we live in Kalifoniastan, as some people like to call it, how is it so many have forgotten that the politicans can act at the state level too?
It was not a threat. It was an exaggerated response to an uncompromising stance. I was taught never to make a threat unless you are prepared to carry it out and I am not a fan of carrying anything. Even watching other people carrying things makes me uncomfortable. Mainly because of the possibility they may ask me to help.

The panic is at national level, not state level. I would understand a CA generated buying spree, but that's not what's happening.

i have a savage bolt 223 and a mini 14 in 223. i only have about 100 rounds of ammo. so i do not shoot 223 right now.
i have 2,000 rounds of 7.62-54r 1,100 rounds of 7.62-39 and 800 rounds of 7.62 NATO and about 2,500 of 22 lr. so we shoot what we have.
sold my Mauser cuzz i only had 200 rpunds of 8 MM. these are not good times to need a lot of different ammo.at the very least i would buy something that shoots 22lr and buy a lot of ammo for it.
