Maybe there will be a potential ammo registration law down the line? Either way..bs.

Reloading components are getting scarce as well. I hope you are already well-stocked on projectiles and primers.
Just taking up space in (what is no longer) the second-worst small town in California.

Who knows, but Walmart in West Covina received a big shipment of ammo this morning. The case was well stocked with pretty much everything except 223. I picked up some 22lr.

Because they got fined so much money because they were incompetent at doing the paperwork.

I would think (hope) that it's probably corporate just telling the stores that so they don't have backorders. I'm sure there is some type of metric that is tracked on how quickly the warehouse fills orders and I'm sure someone's job and/or bonus depends on it. So why let piled up backorders you know aren't going to be completely filled for quite some time skew the numbers.
That said, I would also think (hope) that they will either fair share what they do get in between the stores or send it to stores that have always ordered/sold the most ammo.

I suspect Walmart will stop selling .223 and possibly any type of ammo all together for most stores in Ca.

For whatever its worth, the nice lady in the sporting goods dept at the West Covina one said they had received 10 boxes of 223 this morning and as soon as they hit the shelf all 10 were purchased.

I was told in Dec that the ammo in Walmart wasn't going to be reordered until February because of their corporate end of year. this was from the manager at the Ronert Park store.

The ammo manufacturers & importers would love it if they could price ammo at $5 a round for normal stuff like 9x19mm & 5.56x45mm. Keep the supply artificially low & raise the prices. Kinda like big oil is doing. Compare our rate of small arms ammo production during WWII & Vietnam to today with all our high tech manufacturing capacity. Countries like Russia have no worries about ammo laws, so why is it hard for them to step up their production? Russia probably has billions of rounds of 7.62x54R, 7.62x39 & 5.45x39.5 sitting around as surplus. Un-crate it, re-box it commercially & ship it here. Obama has been in office for 4 years now. After the November 2008 panic buy, commercial ammo production everywhere should have been maxed out. There is no importation limits volume wise for approved small arms ammo. There should be a 2-3 year glut of stockpiled ammo to stock the shelves with. It would be interesting to interview some ammo factory workers to see what the real story is about production levels.

Walmart is a soulless company that exists only to make a profit.
Why would such an entity voluntarily stop selling goods that sell out in minutes?

I am guessing supply chain issues, if the warehouses don't have it then no point in having every minimum wage assistant manager submit duplicate requests for backordered items.

(since we are playing the speculation game here)

Just came home from a Wal-Mart in San Jacinto
                                Checked the ammo 'Locker"

And I swear I could hear the crickets chripping in there
                                It was so empty
