    Big Bear OLL experiences??

Has anyone ever taken any of their OLL or OL ak's up to big bear, around the 4x4 trails? Do the rangers hassle you, or do you just never see them?

I'm up there about twice a month when the ranges are open. Never had any hassle or trouble.

I dont think he meant range

But there are some open shooting areas. One I have tried is about half way between crab flats and holcomb valley on the coxey trail. Just a small sign and a side road to where you could shoot.

We shot back around Fawnskin but the sheriff came out and told us to knock it off. He didn't really care about the guns, just didn't want the fire danger.

There are only 2 legal shooting areas in the immediate vicinity of Big Bear, besides the rifle range in town. Lightning gulch on road 2N93 south of town and another one road 2N02, east of town on the dirt road to Pioneertown. I've used both many times with no trouble.

There are 4 designated shooting areas in the San bernardino National Forest. I have been to all of them and regularly frequent 3 of them. I'm up there about twice a month. Quite often I see the NFS K-9 cops as well as the rangers. Never any problems. Just don't do anything that would get you into trouble. They are watching, and you don't always know it.

Keep in mind, for the shooting areas in the national forest areas up in big bear, you really should check with the local ranger station before you go, because they can be closed due to fire restrictions.

It's not a problem in the winter, but the rest of the year it may be.
