last summer i would go into ammo bros for something and see a spam can of mosin on sale. i would buy the ammo instead of something i went in their for. one time i carried a spam can in my back pack at the gun show for 2 hrs [ouch] and that is not what i intended to do. it hurt me then but man am i glad i did it. it all started with hoarding bulk [550] WM 22lr.
i have 2,000 in spam cans, 1,000 SKS and 800 for my M1A. that is paltry compared .to some here. only been doing this gun thing fo less than a year.

That's the boat I'm riding in now-a brand new 1911 and shotgun that are just taking up space...

I keep enough to fill a few ammo cans that I would take with me if I ever had to leave. I do have, however, have enough reloading components to weather the panic buying of ammo and components for a few years at least.

The only exception is .22lr. I try to stock up on that whenever I get a chance. Unfortunately, even shooting .22lr is getting harder nowadays.

Well, that was me. Then I learned to buy a little extra along the way and keep a couple hundred of each caliber on hand. Now, getting started with reloading. Should have started a looong time ago.

My policy for several years was to restock double what I shot, unless there was a sale and then I would buy more. Today, I am not about to buy anything. Maybe in about 6 weeks things will settle down. On the other hand will it come to a point that we regret not buying a brick of 525 .22LR because it was $24.99? Will see that price go to $30.00 or .357 at $65.00 for 50? If everyone keeps panic buying it could come to that!

I keep at least 1k rounds per firearm, except for my last purchase. I just bought a Rem 700 in .308 a couple months ago and only have 140 rounds for it because I can't find affordable ammo anywhere. I'm tempted to buy a new rifle in 30-06 just because there's plenty of ammo available.

This is really interesting as I'm a very minor league ammo hoarder myself, but my friend keeps like 50 rounds of .22 on hand and says I can always buy some at wal mart, no matter how much I pled. Won't be so easy(or cheap) for the foreseeable future.
