I used to, then prices dropped for a while and I stocked up on my favorite calibers, now that prices have jumped back up I'm pretty happy with my choices lol.

I usually keep about 1K~3K of 9mm on hand. I think I will bump that up to about 5K within the coming weeks, since I am doing a lot of training this year.

I have a bare-minimum amount that I keep, and a replace-what-you-shoot policy but that's been kicked to the curb for now. The guns will have to just sit in the safe until this nonsense dies down...

i shoot about 1 time a month, i usually take 3 or 4 rifles. use up about 150 rounds. at that rate i have about 3 years of ammo on hand. i do not feel that is enough. problem is if i replace ammo as i use it and the price doubled that hurts the wallet. i think i will just take 2 out at a time and put maybe 75-100 rounds down range.

Believe it or not, compared to me that's a lot of 'ammo lol. My original routine was to go twice a month, but like you I would only shoot about 150 rounds which I know is laughable to most other shooters. I guess I'm going to have to raise my inventory 'max, when and if this nonsense ever lets up...

I try to buy every time I am in Walmart. They have been out for a while now on everything. I am "comfortable" with my pile of .40 but will prolly continue to pick it up as that is all that is ever in stock anywhere. Glad I can go shoot any of my firearms if I like though

I keep as much as I can move quickly in case of fire or if I would have to move out quickly. I have no interest in leaving behind thousands of rounds that my "enemy" that forced me out of my home can use on me. and i do not want so much that I can't get it out of the house if a fire broke out and I would be endangering firemen or neighbors fighting that fire. if you have a large fireproof safe you might be able to store more but most people only have their ammo behind lock and key or in a safe that would not last more than a half an hour in a full fire.

I buy depending on the market. Right now...no. Got what I needed a couple months ago when things weren't inflated.

See this is another thing that has me undecided on how much 'ammo to stock up on as well. I keep seeing/hearing about these people with like......pallets of ammunition but what good is all of that going to do if you have to evacuate your home, like during the wildfires of years past? I say the amount of 'ammo you should have in reserve is equivalent to what you can realistically evacuate with-I'm talking 500 rounds MAX and maybe two weapons at most. How else would you carry all that stuff out, not to mention your other necessities also?

I guess you could have a "bug out" inventory amount and then a "holed up at home" inventory amount, but like you, I wouldn't want to leave thousands of rounds of 'ammo for others to loot either...

For me I like to have at least 100rds for each gun that I don't shoot very often. For guns I take to the range every trip (9mm and .45) I start to get nervous when I'm under 500rds. I like to have at least 1000rds of each just in case. Keep in mind I only get to the range an average of two times a month. If I was able to get to the range more often I'd bump that number up to 2000 rds of 9mm and .45

The reason is because of times like this. Back when Obama first got elected, I didn't have more than 50rds of 9mm (self defense) and zero rounds of .45
I could not find ammo anywhere, so I wasn't able to shoot. I just had a nice expensive paper weight. That will never happen again.

We are addicts man, no matter how much ammo we have we will always feel like we need more. Your not alone brother.

OP, That was me until I started reloading. I usually run hundreds at a time and it has built up a little.
