Interestingly, my closest Big 5 has the 10/22 on display in brushed steel & black polymer, but is keeping the pretty wood ones hidden away. The manager laughed when I asked him if he had any 'traditional' looking ones and said, "yeah, we're just trying to get rid of the scary ones first".

They were selling for 900 approx, but big 5 isn't selling them. Local manager said company suspended sales and are trying to return them cause of the incident that fueled the current mess.

just thought i would let everyone know as i just came back from big. they still carry all their normal mp15-22 ect even the hk mp5 22. the stores have been instructed to not display them or even take them out for people to see them. the guy told me most wont even admit to having them. this was at the big 5 in brea off birch

so for those still looking for them they do carry them at big 5 you just have to ask.

Local Big 5 just started selling AR's in november, and last I spoke with the gun counter dude he said the same as others have said....that is "pulled all AR's from view" but if you whisper sweet nothings in his ear he might let you see and/or buy one. His belief (based on his boss) was that that location was to discontinue selling AR's very soon. Nice short two month selling span...geez oh pizza!

Thank you, Medics. I've been looking to pick up a MP5 22 and haven't seen any on the racks. I'll be sure to ask them about their new policy and if they have any hidden.

Asked about .22lr semiautomatics at my local Big 5 and they had to pull them from the back. Looked at the Sig 522, Mossberg AR, Walther Mp5 and two models of GSGs..Pickup my GSG 522 SD next week.May get more..
