I was already "good" on my stock of .40 but that is all Walmart has had in stock so I picked up a little more. I bought my 9mm for a cheaper shooter but ammo is hit and miss

Yep same here even Walmart prices make me cringe. I much rather shoot .45 that only costs me $8.00 a box to load.

You can buy guns (and magazines) in IL that we only dream of. Many of their gun laws are better than ours.

Proof that if SHTF, having the most popular calibers may not be a good thing. Unless you plan on taking it from someone else. .40 FTW!

Well just as long as you have components. Try buying primers right now..

Everyone is out of primers too.

I found 223 ammo for $17 per 100 rounds and 9mm ammo for $9 per 100 rounds. It just dribbles out of those two dillon presses sitting behind me

45 LC and 44 mag runs around $8 per 100
460 Mag light loads are $14 per 100
460 Mag full power (1917 fps) are 17 cents per round for hornady 240 xtp mag, including brass cost.

Buying factory ammo isn't even an option for me, other than 22lr and 12 ga skeet loads.

I could pump out 10k rounds of 223 if I wanted to. I have enough pistol powder available to me, to make maybe 100k rounds of ammo. I don't have enough primers or bullets to load all that powder, but I will get by for a while. I also burn up 300-600 rounds in a day when I do a match and also practice/play.

I have stocked up. I learned a bit from 2008 as well.

Reloading complements my shooting hobby very nicely. I feel a bit sorry for the guys scrambling to buy ammo, but I am glad I am not our there fighting them to buy $100 boxes of 223.
