I own one but have yet to take it to the range. I recall reading on another forum that if you cover the rectangular action handle with some foam and zip ties it greatly reduces the distance that spent rounds fly and the damage done to the brass.

I've got a few Hakims I might be willing to part out. What is a stock & handguard worth to you? As for places that may have parts, check on GunBroker, GPC/Numrich, Sarco (don't blame me if you have trouble with them) & maybe Hunters Lodge. It's been a long time since any Hakims have been imported.I have one, paid around $275 in 1999. She runs flawless and has decent accuracy, always turns heads when i'm blasting away at Burro Canyon. Her upper handguard is missing and i would love to get my hands on a stock set. Does anyone know of any places with parts in stock?Comment

Just took mine out yesterday
That's right ..........We had a Red-Neck X-Mass
The family went out to Bee Canyon in the afternoon and we had a great time at the top with some long guns
I loaded up the Hakim and let the wife blast away at a beer keg somebody brought out ( about 100 away )
You should of seen the heads turn as 2 jeeps were across the way from us taking in the view ( 30 Yards away )
I shouted out before hand " Shooting "
That Hakim Rocks !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!--------------------------------------------------------------

You sir, made my day.
I picked up a Hakim in the early 80's for under 200.
As I recall it has a direct blow back action, I could feel my hair rising from the breeze it caused. My shooter glasses had little flecks of oil after I shot it once after cleaning the barrel.
Watch out for Hakim thumb, hurts worse than M1 thumb, it drew blood on me. It you ignorantly try to press the follower down with a digit to close the action, it closes like a trap smashing said digit. Screamed like a little girl, probably like a wussy guy.
Brings tears to my eyes just thinking about it.Comment

I've got a Hakim - my beloved "Jihadomatic". It's a pure "fun gun" - the size of a telephone pole and about as well balanced as one too, with squinty notch sights, but it does a good job making friends at the range when you feel the muzzle blast compressing your chest cavity and rustling pant legs two tables down.
I like to say that the highly efficient muzzle brake does a great job of converting recoil into noise. It hardly kicks at all, which is great considering it's firing full-power 8mm Mauser.
Considering it has the same sights as the famous Swedish Mauser (unlike the actual Ljungman rifle, which has that ridiculous "torpedo" sight), I've been considering putting Mojo rear right on mine to make sighting a little easier. A gun like this, especially in great condition, is too classy to "bubba" up with a rail drilled into the receiver and stock.
Of note, it's not that "Hakims haven't been imported for a long time" - there literally aren't any left. The Maadi Arsenal only made about 60,000 of them, and I'm fairly certain all of those were (A) already imported to the United States, (B) destroyed through various means, or (C) still in use by African militias and paramilitary outfits. Considering how utterly weird the Hakim's action is, I highly doubt they'll ever be made again either.
