Anyone have a Hakim?

Just remembered I have this bad boy while looking for stuff I may price gouge the panic-stricken with.

Never shot it even. Are they fun? (Is any gun not? lol)

Wonder what I should list it for...maybe $2000?

I had one.Didn't particularly like it until I shot it.Was a lot of fun.Functioned flawlessly on old surplus 8mm.

Looks long and awkward,handles very well.Don't think anyone will pay big money for it.Bit of an oddity.

Interesting, was originally designed in 6.5mm. Now that would have been a nice shooter.

Two unique things about the Hakim;
1) the muzzle break directs the noise and blast to the back and sides
2) your brass is going to end up badly dinged and about 20 feet downrange and a little to the right, so shoot non reloadable surplus stuff

If you take your Hakim to the range, be kind and setup away from others.
More than once I've had someone come setup next to me who immediately packed up and moved after a single shot from the mighty Hakim!

I have both a Hakim and Rasheed, also a 1951E Beretta, but I never managed to score a Egyptian marked FN49

I picked up a Hakim in the early 80's for under 200.

As I recall it has a direct blow back action, I could feel my hair rising from the breeze it caused. My shooter glasses had little flecks of oil after I shot it once after cleaning the barrel.

Watch out for Hakim thumb, hurts worse than M1 thumb, it drew blood on me. It you ignorantly try to press the follower down with a digit to close the action, it closes like a trap smashing said digit. Screamed like a little girl, probably like a wussy guy.

Brings tears to my eyes just thinking about it.

German pre WWII MG-13 25rd mags are easy to make work in a Hakim. They are cheap & well made mags, but none have WWII WaA markings. Most are marked BSW 1938 & come packed 8 in a 8mm ammo can with wood dividers. The later mags with chrome plated followers which work better when dirty. MG-15 double drums can be made to work with a lot of work to the drum including welding.

Most Hakim's have frozen (rusted) gas adjustment blocks & many have broken extractors. Many have rusted barrel bores. The market for Hakims will always be very limited due to the obsolete 8mm ammo they use & that most gun owners have no idea what a Hakim is. They are a blast to shoot with converted MG-15 75rd double drums. Too bad most of the quality surplus 8mm is long gone now.

Great rifles! I love my hakim and ag-42b. They are not blowback operated, but rather tilting block direct gas impingement. Predecessors to the ar15(kinda). Rogerbutthead is correct. Be careful with that action. Garand thumb hurts, but Hakim thumb damned near amputates.

I had one that I sold a year or two ago. Sold it for $450, and still regret it, but I needed money and the space at the time. I've held off on gouging people during this panic buy, even though it's very tempting. I know people are panicking right now, but 2k might be a little high. I could see someone paying up to $700-$800 during this panic though.

I have one, paid around $275 in 1999. She runs flawless and has decent accuracy, always turns heads when i'm blasting away at Burro Canyon. Her upper handguard is missing and i would love to get my hands on a stock set. Does anyone know of any places with parts in stock?
