    .50 ae ammo

Has anyone purchased .50 ae ammo recently? I've checked my usual sources and have had no luck...all sold out.
    Thanks

Even manufacturers can't afford the price of components huh?

I had a case of Hornady (200 rounds) in my reserves, but ended up selling it a bit over a month ago to help out a family member. Little did I know it'd be in such short supply after selling. Best prices I'm finding now is $27 a box of 20, which is a rip off.

I was shooting at the last Sacramento CalGuns meet and some guy offered me $20 for just 3 rounds of 50ae. I told him I couldn't rip him off like that and sold him 10 rounds for $20.

You really gotta roll your own. Not to expensive to do. I use a cheap Lee hand press.

I just bought some for my wife's pistol online at Palmetto State Armory for $22/20 rounds. I hope I am remembering the price correctly. It was the cheapest for Hornady I could find anywhere. It was less than $24 which was the second lowest price I found.

Thanks all. Reloading is not an option right now. The 650 is on deep storage still and Palmetto was out of stock two days ago....but I will keep checking with them. Any other sources?

Get that 650 out or get a hand press for $25 and make your own. I find that once I get the mentality that I can build my own for cheaper I can and I am happy, Just like my cost for .308 is now .59 a round... Yeah, cause that saved me money...

Okay bad example, but seriously, You need H110 or AAC 1680 (go for H110), 50 AE loads from Berry's Bullets (cause Xtreme and Rainier either do not have them yet or are expensive) LPP or LPM primers and shells. The shells are actually about the same price of 44 mag on Gunbroker. Get the ONCE FIRED stuff, trimmer and dies and get to reloading. Component wise I checked it out and found that I was able to make a box of 50 AE around the same price of 44 mag and right now that 44 mag is costing me about $5 a box of 50. I think for a box of 50 AE a box of 50 might be a bit closer to about $7 -$9 WITHOUT actually looking.

I just paid $81 for 3 boxes of Speer Gold Dot 325GR JHP. It was old and NOS and beat to hell boxes, but I got them from gunbroker...

Look for it on gunbroker. From time to time you will find pockets of 20-50 rounds.
Oh yeah, it is all over the place...

Just don't buy any from ammo bros. Until I get this 9mm ammo returned I am gonna badmouth them for letting this crap go without resizing it...

Thanks stilly...good info. 7~9 a box sure sounds a lot better than the 25 per box stuff that its sold out anyway.

There's a guy on gunsamerica auctions who sells .50 ae. Its his own stuff he makes but not reloads. He sells them in packs of 20. You save on shipping if you buy 100 at a time. They run about $1 bullet vs box local gun store box of 20 for $35+-50 depending on brand. The gunsamerica guy is the most consistently cheap ones I have found. The 1 store that sells.
Many desert eagle guys including myself have had no issue at all with this guys .50ae ammo. If you want hollow points though, you're still stuck paying more for hornady or magnum research (hornady) or the Speer Gold Dot (must be made of gold for what they want) ammo. I would buy them from PSA but all the 100 times I've checked they never have them in stock. I get my .44 rounds from them though. Maybe you have to call to get .50 ae from PSA?

Just looked. I dont know if my web browser not loading the site right but i cant find the .50 ae source i was just talking about on gunsamerica anymore but looks like he might be selling on gunborker now.
