I have used a golden rod for years without a speck of rust on any of my firearms. Worth the investment.

I wouldn't say I'm a frequent patron, but I am a fan of wing-day and go there often enough.

I think I may have outdone myself, but I wanted to take the rusty firearms as a huge sign that I should reassess my storage situation since I had a little extra cash on hand burning a hole in my pocket.

First of all, I started by visiting Turners to take a look at their safes and I found an AmSec 5924 safe with electronic keypad. This was a little bigger than my stack on, but had shelf space which is what I really needed. I also purchased an 18" golden rod which I installed inside the base of the safe and threw my small pelican desiccant tins in the oven. After these were dried out, I put one on each shelf and threw the bigger box of desiccant behind my rifles near the bottom.

Overall I am really happy with this and feel that it was time to upgrade from my little stack-on cabinet. The AmSec is a nice safe for the money and is just big enough for my rifles, pistols and ammo. I think that the goldenrod and the desiccant that I've put in will solve all my issues and my guns will be protected.

Right on man, I think the AMSEC is a good safe for the money-they have an excellent warranty too. And, I remember when they were building that Hooter's; at the time it was mostly senior citizens/older folks in that particular neighborhood, I was like, uh....ok! Lol...
