I find my collection expands and contracts by 1-2 guns a year as I buy and try stuff out.

After my initial bump in purchases I have settled on a handful of guns I am happy with. Now I find myself slowly expanding towards reloading equipment.

Agreed! OP - all you'll get from most of us is "enabling" and support.
It was not a threat. It was an exaggerated response to an uncompromising stance. I was taught never to make a threat unless you are prepared to carry it out and I am not a fan of carrying anything. Even watching other people carrying things makes me uncomfortable. Mainly because of the possibility they may ask me to help.

About 20 years ago I invited a friend to go to a gun show in Atlanta. He was interested, but didn't own any guns. I think he bought 2 or 3 at the show. The next think I know is he built a secret room in his house and filled it with guns. We went to get our carry permits together.

Never said I WANTED to stop, only wondering why I can't. Only 3 days ago I announced "I am not buying any more guns this year (I mean, certainly I could go 5 weeks without buying a gun, right?) Then a measly 2 days later, I find myself uncontrollably typing "I'll take it!" in the classifieds. Got my eye on two others too. I need to at least slow down some!

Thanks everyone for the enabling encouragement. I knew I wasn't the only one out there with this disease and it's helpful to know there's a "support group" out there.

Hello. My name is 00Medic and I am an addict also.

Same story as many of you above. Out of the game for 20 some years and back in within the last yearish. I have been buying non-stop all of 2012. Glocks, Smiths, 2 tons of AK parts kits (I'm not joking, my closet is FULL of kits). Just broke in my C&R license with a Hungarian M44 and have 5 more C&R's lined up. More than a couple of AR's going through the SB249 period. More AK kits coming.

                      I'm out of control. haha

But I do make sure bills are paid and family is well taken care of before I take care of me. I'm also happy to know there are others like me and I'm not alone with this affliction.

The cure for my addiction was buying pretty much every gun that I've ever wanted. These days I spend the money on ammo and training, so I could use the 26 I have

Take that back there are two more guns I want...lol

I tried putting a breathalizer on my computer, that only helped evening purchases.

Coming to calguns asking for help to stop buying guns is like...
-going to McDonald's and asking the patrons for dieting tips
-going to Walmart and asking the patrons for fashion tips
